Kitty Caption XXXIV – Our Olympi”cat” Hopefuls – (Humor/Meow Alerts)
5 January 2004 | PetroniDE

Posted on 01/05/2004 1:54:22 AM PST by PetroniDE

Happy New Year to everyone. Vacation is now over and time to return to our regular activities (including the weekly kitty thread). While diminished in stature in recent years, the summer Olympics take place in Athens, Greece this year and our athletes have begun qualification and training. While the United States usually wins its share of medals, this year we take no chances in several events.

Equestrian – U.S. typically not strong in this event. We will be prepared this year.
Just one problem; horse (not moose) required. Courtesy of Balrog666.

Basketball – U.S. has had too many close calls lately. Taking no chances this time.

Golf – New sport this year. No Tiger Woods, but close enough. Courtesy of WVNan.

Swimming – U.S. usually competitive in this event, but just in case.

There is an event in the Winter games called that combine cross-country skiing and shooting. Don't recall the name.

This cat could try archery.

Biathlon. It's not usually covered by the US news.

The event includes a rifle, so no U.S. coverage is not a surprise. I suspect we aren't competitive in that event, but also suspect we beat the French in the shooting part.

There was a time in the 20 and 30's when it was a prestigious event and the armed forces all entered teams
