TWO flights? I only saw the information on the British flight. What is the other one?
To: Dog
I knew one flight had been canceled from the UK this morning,, wasn't aware of the second. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
I'm headed over to the News side to see what I can find about it. Please ping me to this new information when you can.

kay, my sister and I and our sons had a great sky-gazing session Way back when I was a Jr. in high school I built a camera to photograph the stars. It had a 62 inch focal length and was 63 inches long. It was a foot and a half in diameter and used 8 by 10 inch film. I bult a 720 degree rotating mount out of sewer pipe, auto transmission parts and an old washing machine motor. It could track at the earths rotation speed allowing for long exposure times. I used infa-red film (new at the time) which grealy reduced the effects of the earth's atmosphere. I got some fanstasic pictures. I won a superior at the State Science Show for that project.
Unfortuneatly that was about the time I discovered it was a lot more pleasurable to hold a girl in my arms under the stars rather than a camera. So astronomy went the way of many other worthwhile pursuits.
The astronomy thought association does indeed that bring back some good memories. The girl that brought me back down to earth was named Jewel... but I called her Judy.
I remember singing to her:
You're my angel Judy
You're my darling
The sweetest flower
Heaven ever grew.
I didn't call her Jewel because no one ever wrote love songs for Jewel. Every time I tried to write a love song for Jewel... all that came to mind was carrots... and then What's up, Doc? Mental images of Bugs Dunny are of no help in a romance with a beatiful young lady. So she became Judy and an angel to me.
When I went away to college Jewel started dating and eventually married a guy named Charlie. The funny thing is Charlie called her Judy too.
I ran into Charlie a while back. It seems Charlie and Judy divorced years ago. He no longer calls her Judy. I can't repeat what he called her in polite company. Come to think of it, I can't repeat what he called her in impolite company...either.
The one thing I remember is that Jewel looked just like her mom. When I dated Judy her mom was perhaps 55 and looked 35. Her Mom was an absolute knockout. That was before I knew that all girls turn into their moms. Had I known that fact, I would have come home from college on the weekends.
It think Charlies problem with Judy is he never learned how to carry a tune.

Thanks for speaking up on the subject. One of Ijaz' most intriguing comments lately was about the proof of WMDs that will soon be made public. Looking forward to hearing the details of that.
I noticed BKO in your TO list .... brought tears to my eyes. It seems that far too many people have forgotten the horror of that day and the tremendous losses our nation suffered.
Thank you for your frequent reminders that we must NEVER FORGET!!!
And thanks, once again, for your service to our nation! God bless you!

"The name's BOND, JAMES BOND"
...Spike TV Cable Network's weeklong Marathon has run its current course.
Keep checking, though. This last BOND Marathon was the 2nd in as many Holiday Weekends.
...And they were both just great, BOND over and over again.
"No Mr. BOND, I expect you to die"
...Thanks, GOLDFINGER, we needed that.

I remember that morning so vividly. I was watching the coverage, almost numbed from shock, horror, fear, outrage ... so many feelings. When it was stated that Barbara was one of the victims, I finally lost it .... the tears began to flow ... and flow. That's when it seemed to take on a human face and the enormity of what happened fully sunk in.
For many of us who had no close friends or family involved and who live far away, it was Barbara who made it seem like a personal tragedy .... that we had lost someone we felt that we knew ..... and whom we loved and respected.

We will never forget. And our country is still active and vigilant against another attack. God rest BKO, and bless her husband, and give him solace.

Happy New Year Everyone.
I go through coffee pots like a dose of salt. I checked to see where they are all made.....Mexico and China. I've noticed too, that the coffee maker leaks, if it doesn't, the pot drips. Can't win. I sometimes go back to my old standby, my 30 year old Corning perculator.
Remember yesterday I said Roomey would snore in the New Year? Well we got home around 2200 hours, got ready for bed, tuned into NBC, waiting out the news, then Jay Leno, 'cause Roomey said he was going to do a good show, We settled there, with the champaign handy, in ice, our glasses standing by.............Neither of us saw Jay Leno, this morning the ice was melted and the two champaign glasses were still standing by. Didn't see a thing!

Me too. Our dear BKO made it personal. I cried for her and I cried for Ted. I still cannot see a photo of her without tears welling up in my eyes. Barbara was the beautiful, smiling face of the GOP. I loved her dearly in life and I love her even more now. There's times (as Ronnie knows) when I am absolutely certain, she's here with us on FR.
Thanks, kayak, for telling us your memories and thoughts. (Yes, my tears are flowing right now).
