OK, I'll take Howie Dean with that crazy McKinney chick as his running mate, and W takes 48 states.

In April, Dean has nomination locked up. He trails Bush 20% in polls, with local and congressional races also tanking for Dems. McAuliffe goes to delegates with plea, "Don't nominate an unelectable candidate. No more McGoverns."

Hillary is "begged" to save party. She "reluctantly" agrees. Chooses Hispanic Bill Richardson as VP.

Dems were never majority party, but a party that compiles multiple minorities.

Hillary gets solid Dem votes, Labor votes, Gay votes, Black votes, Hispanic votes, Soccer Mom votes, the "young vote," and other minority constituencies. Each is told that they are discriminated against, and only Hillary can save them.

Hillary's negatives have little effect, because they are all already known. Even New York, which she agreed to serve as a Senator for 6 years, votes for her.

Bush never learns to communicate or do well on television. He has better facts in every debate, but this is the TV world of 2004, so she wins them ea silly on "style."

It's all been set up for months, and Hillary wins with 53%.

(and I'm a solid Republican/2 tour RVN Military Vet/NRA supporter!)

Interesting scenario, but Hillary! has as much on-camera style as a box of dog turds. It would be interesting, however, to see the republicans grilling the ex-co-president on how she mis-read all the signs leading up to 9-11.

I say Bush takes 46 states. Can't speculate on his veep--perhaps his brother? Now that would be interesting.
