Cigar bar put on hold for expansion
HERALD STAFF REPORT
Residents will have more dining options in Palmetto when Jonathan's and the Smokin' Martini open in February at Palmetto's Riverside Plaza. The opening was originally planned for this month.
Overwhelming interest in the private membership cigar club prompted owners to postpone opening day so that they can nearly double the space devoted to the restaurant and club, said Jonathan Shute, partner, executive chef and director of restaurant operations.
Equity membership in the club costs $4,000, with a handful still available, Shute said.
"We originally thought the club would be 50 people, but now it's 100, so we decided to expand the facility," Shute said.
The restaurant and bar will occupy 8,000 feet instead of 5,000.
