Saddam Hussein now spends his day looking at a picture of President Bush.

That's just too cruel for words. Bwahahahahaha!

BTW, here's a "good news" story from my local paper about a brave soldier from our area.

Here's our girl Chelsea hobnobbing in something form-fitting at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Gala.

Opening paragraphs of today's Washington Post article on Wesley Clark:
Standing before a packed auditorium at Phillips Exeter Academy here earlier this month, retired Gen. Wesley K. Clark suddenly turned away from the lectern and grabbed hold of a U.S. flag hanging from a pole at the back of the stage.

"You know, the American flag doesn't belong to the Republican Party," he said. After asking the veterans in the audience to stand, he continued, still clutching the fabric. "That's our flag. We saluted that flag. We served under it. We fought for it. We watched brave men and women buried under it. And no Tom DeLay or John Ashcroft or George W. Bush is going to take this flag away from us,

There they go again.. Dems accuse pubbies of saying they're unpatriotic...which the pubbies have never done (in public, anyway).

Clinton started this little rhetorical trick...accuse opponents of saying or doing or standing for something nefarious. Then repeat it often enough until it becomes accepted fact. I swear, there's a seminar somewhere that teaches Dem candidates how to do that.

LOL! You won't believe the LAST paragraphs of the Wes Clark article....talk about cognitive dissonance:
But Clark said in a recent interview that his military background is proving to be a mixed blessing in the Democratic race. "If I were a Republican, it would be real easy," he said in an interview. "Republicans would say, ah, general, we had Eisenhower, we like generals. Big authority. Democrats aren't like that."

Democrats, he added, "want to look through that uniform. And they have trouble with that uniform because a lot of them marched [against the Vietnam War] and a lot of them, they're not authority oriented and the military seems like rigid authority."

Clark has little more than a month to change those perceptions and turn the promise of his candidacy into a reality.

First I've heard of that. They think pubbies like the military because of its "rigid authority"!

Rubbing peanut butter into chewing gum in hair breaks down the chewing gum. It would be worth a try and wouldn't damage your hair.

If that doesn't work, there's a citrus based stuff I buy at the hardware store that works when removing grease pencil, crayola, or chewing gum. It would be more harsh, I would think.

I saw General Swartzkoff (sp?) grab the flag during a speech, and speak of his love for our country. I was shocked at the site of him grabbing the flag. If it would have been anyone but him, I would have felt it to be disrespectable.

It sounds to me like someone is lifting speech material from Swartzkoff.

Peanut butter truly is the wonder of the age!

Here's a real shocker:

WE HEAR . . . THAT prior to her appearance on "Saturday Night Live," Paris Hilton had no clue who Al Sharpton was and had to be briefed on the presidential candidate before she went on . . . PageSix

Shucks! Quite a disappointment here. I was hoping for a more rowdy explaination.

I am shocked that Paris didn't know who Sharpton was. And this from the gal who thought that Walmart sold 'things like walls'.

I love the Barefoot Contessa. I have all three of her cookbooks, and have cooked quite a bit from them. I have yet to find anything that didn't turn out. I do like her show too, the only thing that bothers me is her laugh. I like how she is laid back and has fun with food and her guests.

Did you see Martha on LKL? I forgot she was on. She was crying all over the place in the teaser ads. I think she's worried she's going to end up in stripes for a few years.

Howard Dean's ubiquitous lies are catching up with him...this one's a doozy.

[From the NY Timesz] about a survey sent to the Dem candidates in August by an Iowa newspaper, asking for written responses. "Asked by The Quad-City Times , which is based in Davenport, Iowa, to complete the sentence 'My closest living relative in the armed services is...,' Dr. Dean wrote in August, 'My brother is a POW/MIA in Laos, but is almost certainly dead.'"

The brother, of course, never wore a uniform and was a peace-activist McGovernite. Who knows what he was doing in Laos, but he certainly wasn't a POW/MIA. The paper took Dean to task in a Sunday lead editorial...there's a thread on this.
