A little Springer Spaniel,

You wouldn't believe the threats I received in Email. Barney could run for President in 2008, he has a strong base.

I only wish the President had time to see it.

You never know. In most White Houses, the staff puts together a compendium or summary of the day's mail from the general public for the President. You might consider putting it in a letter and sending it snail mail. Might have a better shot at making it to the President's personal attention.

Oh, I believe it. Barney is young, cute, has a typical Terrier temperament, and is full of energy. Spotty, on the other hand, is old — will be 15 soon. I saw her on the "Christmas at the White House" annual A&E special last week. Looks like at least one eye has cataracts. Perhaps because I have two German Wirehaired Pointers who were born the same year (1989) as Spotty, I adore her. I also am very touched by the deep bond between her and the President. I know when she passes, it will be hard on him. :-(

Another reason why Barney gets all the press is because he and the President are so funny together. Like in that photo above of the President trying to salute while hanging onto Barney.
