The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

That and "Angry Chestbone."
(My sister's idea.)
And a few others.
(Interesting Idea, kinda like Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.)

I could get my brothers to play backup. But that would be "Jen and the Annoying Weasel Boys"...

Jen and the Jar of Souls.
Stage show consists of lasers, and a huge smoking jar.
(Ostensibly, your btother's souls are in the jar..)

I'm not good at songs. I tried poetry a couple times. Last time, it ended up as a 32-stanza epic in the style of
Kalevala... so I'll have to hire a songwriter.
I am good at thinking up song titles. At Christmas, I had this whole list of Really Bad Holiday Songs. Things like "I won't be home for Christmas (they don't love me anymore)".

I went to the trophy store today, where a bunch of knives are waiting to be engraved. They were nice enough to do one for the camera. I'm sending the whole series to ecurbh for the web site, but I thought I'd post a key photo here.
Here we see the knife aligned in the engraver, which looks a lot like a flatbed plotter with a cover on it. The blade has been sprayed with a coating that will blacken the "crater" in the steel, making the marking visible. The visible red laser dot is used for alignment. Engraving is done by an invisible high-power infrared laser beam.
Actual engraving took only a few seconds, and I could not get a good picture of it. The lettering blazed like an arc welder, but with white light instead of blue. I thought about the words on The Ring, which only were visible in fire. But our message is much friendlier.
All that was needed after that was to wash off the rest of the spray, and the knife was done.

There's a deep grey wedding band I liked.
Had played around with the idea of having it inlaid or engraved with words.

Hey, it rhymes! And it's short. And it makes sense.
My poetry rarely rhymes. It always scans, though. I am particularly fond of iambic pentameter, and also the peculiar ryhthm - can't remember what it's called. In "Hiawatha", only the author took the style (and a lot of the story) from "Kalevala". A primitive, chanting beat. Kinda "Beowulf"-y.

LOL!
I can't do Iambic anyometer, for me it's free form (or close to it) or not at all.
OR, it's got a tune to it in my head.
And since I cannot read, understand, or write sheet music I cannot convey the tune.
This has a tune to it in my head, and I can somewhat literally hear the voice singing it (At least in my head).
Oh. Hello, it's cold in here
Took a walk 'n tasted tears
Been so long, you're gone I fear
All I want is to hold you near
And the riddles that you are
all the rivers that you bleed
all the time that drew you near
all this time you're not with me
And I -Everything inside
is a riddle that I hide
In the middle that you see of what is 'Me'
Often think about your eyes
I may never know the reasons why
And distance grows as time goes by
Wish so much that you'd be here
And this riddle of our lives
The light inside your eyes
A moving glimpse of grace
Where I'm always out of place
And I- Everything this time
Such a void was left inside
You slipped and said goodbye, My SilverQueen.

Ah... with me, it's pictures. I cannot draw or paint, so I use prose to get the images down. And they're never quite right. Like crumpled flowers. As soon as I touch them, they fade.

That's what it's like with anything I sketch.
I'll have an idea, and it'll look 'perfect' in my head, but when I try to draw it, the image changes, mutates if you will.
And it's no longer 'perfect'.
And no longer conveys what I want.
So, I do practice sketches, like the one titled "Satin Dreams" that I sold to get rid of.
I drew it to experiment with a certain texture of paper, and didn't like how other things turned out.
I'll put up a link, if requested.
(But be warned, some will find it offensive.)

My sister draws... she uses pencils. On notebook paper. She's pretty good, a bit influenced by Anime right now but I bet in ten years she's really something. Who knows? She could draw cover art for my novels!
