The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Where's the Entmoot page? And is Ecurb setting up a daily update page, so those of us mooting vicariously can be in on the fun?

Chelsea came from a family that had both parents. They were family pets and used as field dogs as well. She's not registered, and I could care less. She's prolly not breed standard eihter. I've never measured her, but she weighs in about 80 lbs.

She's vey sweet and adores Elf-boy. Which is exactly what I wanted.

Our last dog was a husky shepard mix.
She thought that dad's cat was just the best thing going.
She liked him, and when we took her for a walk, dad's cat had to come along.

G'nad asked the same question on the phone, wondering if anyo of us were gonna have it together or not!....

Guess it depends on what the activities are. We'll probably need to cook for breakfast and for lunches when we're at the Castle....plan on something that's quick or easy in the evenings if we're going to be out evenings or late afternoons, and all afternoon cooking if we're just gonna hang around the Castle at night.

Yeah... They are great dogs.... My favorite breed.

Chelsea is one of the fairly leggy labradors that have become numerous from field-trial types in recent years.... compared to that pic above, she has long legs, if I remember, in comparison. Now... it is apples and oranges, in that the dog above is a male, that will have a wider head and chest than most females.

But important in the original purpose was a strong dog that could also fit in a duck boat and not be too big. The 100 pound males coming out of the field trial people were just too big.

I am familiar too with the problems of Labrador conformation and field trial standards. I see in that picture of the lab a dog that just could not do the job, beautiful as he is. That dog won't hunt. If you took that dog and put him through a rigorous physical training and leaned him up 10 pounds he might could. But that would limit him in conformation, and that is not right. The standard for a lab should be to the best in his category, which is 'working', still.

I figured that Friday would be sandwich and chips day since everyone will be arriving at different times. I'll be bringing different kinds of meats and cheese and breads, so a do-it-yourself buffet can be set up.

On Saturday, we'll make breakfast and then watch the movies, with a break for lunch that can be sandwiches again or order some pizza or something. Finish watching FOTR and TTT, go to the theatre, watch ROTK and maybe go out together to grab an affordable bite to eat or else we could pick up some fried chicken, etc.

Sunday morning, same drill - breakfast and then lunch could be leftovers or I'll buy some hot dogs and burgers for a grilled meal! Dinner is a la carte since some folks, like me, will be leaving that night anyway. :-(

No problem!

Should I post a virtual shopping list over on ecurbh's forum and folks can add on like a wish list so I know what else to get when I get there?

Remind your siblings to bring THEIR IDs as well.

Yep...already started nagging them about this, too. ;-) I'm just hoping they just need one form of ID. I suppose they probably don't...but I still worry. Of course!
