Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Just show up! Come in when you want, and leave when you need to! We never ping unless you disappear for a long time! But I will try to remember.

One of the best things about having a spouse is the collaberation of things...like even just putting up the little temp. fence...it was our discussion all the way home from church yesterday. Nice to have someone to talk to and discuss and plan with, even if it's just something little like this!

No offense intended here Hair. Why is it some folks that do dog/cat/horse/critter shows are sooooooo uptight?
To: Pippin
I got in the hobbit habit of bookmarking it every afternoon in my browser. That also let me pick exactly where I left off.

Why is it some folks that do dog/cat/horse/critter shows are sooooooo uptight?Because it is about protocol, dress and tradition. There is a perfect standard that everyone is aiming toward, and it is not my place to decide that I think the perfect Labrador should have his tail docked like a Shorthair Pointer.

Look at it this way. When was the last time you saw a Cocker Spaniel used for a hunting dog?

Good morning everyone!
I took Frodo to the Everglades yesterday and visited the indian reservation. The pics aren't as awesome as the ones I've seen, but it's all I could do for the moment! I'll have them posted tonight. :-)
Anyway, I am counting the minutes until Friday when I finally get to meet all of you! *giddy*
Ksen - I'll be calling you Thursday night to set up a meeting place and time. I should arrive no later than 9am.
I'll be writing up a grocery list, along with things to bring (like the Rankin-Bass Hobbit DVD and Flat Frodo)!!
On to breakfast!

Nice to have someone to talk to and discuss and plan with, even if it's just something little like this!Yes.... and someone else to own the results with you! I am perfectly capable of doing all the work it took to have cleared the new back-forty for the horses. But I put it off for two years. Partly because it is nice to have another set of hands and muscles, but also because before, I could have done it all, but there wouldn't have been anyone who would have noticed it or have known how much effort it took.
Thanks ecurbh!

Good morning folks! Taking a short but much needed break from my Monday house cleaning. I hate Mondays :-( Nothin else happening here except we all have the flu. I was trying to catch up and saw that G'nad had car trouble. Did anyone hear from him to know if they left and are ok?

You are very welcome, my dearest!
To: trini
I read that g'nad was heading out this morning. I believe the van was fixed on Sunday by a friend. :-)
So? Are you coming with me on Friday or not!? *grinning*

The way today has been shaping up, I could use the trip! I don't know yet, you know me, I'll agonize over it until the last minute.

Look at it this way. When was the last time you saw a Cocker Spaniel used for a hunting dog?My own! Zulu was the better half, the Lead Bird Finder and Primary Flusher, in my team. Logan was just the pack animal that could carry it back for her. For all his pedigree, he was never the hunter she was.... He needed her.
But good point. I do find the show concept of refining the breed to its highest standard to be a little lost when the highest purpose of the animal is to be a lap dog. It is easy to imagine why good conformation and breeding would improve a working dog.... but extrapolating that out to evaluating whether the legs are straight on the perfect Pomeranian gets a little too abstract to be a real functional need.

I've had live-bearers before too. Proliferous little guys. And I once had a pair of angelfish lay lines of eggs and then eat them. I've also watched a pair of anabantids do a fascinating bubble nest building, and then the writhing swim/dance of desiring, but no hatchlings that i saw. Right now all I have is a couple of Ceverum I've had for at least 6 yrs (one gold and one green, but both males), the three danios, and a pair of cory cats. I've had the danios and cories for 3 to 4 yrs. I was thinking it was time to add some new fish to the tank. those are all getting pretty old.

Yeah! Exactly! I coulda easily stuck the temp fence up...but for some reason we both felt inclined to hash over the whole project! LOL We're the same way with the garden, it's "ours" and we do it together with MUCH discussion.
Ol' Steve the Dwarf may irritate me occasionally, but he's still the best friend I ever had and I really think that's the key. Romance may wax and wane, but undying friendship is basis for a long relationship.

I've already had to break out the ice from the warm water I set out earlier...
Sigh...gonna be a long day. Any suggestions? Not supposed to get above freezing.
