Here is some news....

First off my son-in-law was first on the list to fly out of Baghdad on the first flight this morning Baghdad time.

But, he and 59 other soldiers - most of whom were only getting leave for the holidays - got bumped by 60 congressman who took their flight.

But, Tom got a later flight and has made it to Kuwait waiting for flight to Germany!!!

But, I want the names of those congressmen so I can write 'em!!! Tom was coming home for good... so it's not quite the same for him... but those guys who were only getting a couple of weeks with family SHOULD'VE HAD THE FLIGHT!!!

Oh, and in other news.... with Tom coming home Jill got news today from her aunt (dad's sister) that one of her cousins in the Air Force was deployed to Afghanistan last week. So, I got another family member I'm sending care packages. Will be making a run to WalMart tonight to build another package.

Ya know, you divorce somebody - but you just don't always divorce the whole family. And this aunt of Jill's is still a good friend of mine - I still think of her as family. And her kids still feel like my nephews. Last time I was up there they still called me "aunt."

My grandparents on my mother's side refuse to mention each other, to be in the same room with each other, or anything. I can't imagine what it was like for my mom growing up, but it does make Christmas uncomfortable....
