Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hope you have a safe trip!I'm baaaack! I beat all the ice storms and I'm here until Monday morning. It was snowing in Chicago and I got to see all the deicing stuff.

I didn't know you were a ham radio operator.
My best friend in the fishing club is one, there is a hugh antenna outside his house, and he has a "radio room" in his garage, which includes a world clock.
He's a retired physics prof, from UM, and admits to being a "socialist," as you'd expect, sadly. But a wonderful human, anyway, who loves the ocean and the outdoors.

Hehehe....I'm in NC this weekend until Tuesday morning. Both KC and NC have ice predicted for tomorrow.
Can we go back to Florida now?
To: Overtaxed
Currently sneaking up on -10, on its way to prolly -20.
Florida sounds good to me....
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yeaaah...so, needless to say, when I have to have any kind of work done, I'm a little "grumpy" afterwards.

Got this freepmail the other day, from armymarinedad. He has
three sons in the military, and got a HHD knife from us for each of them. I invited him to stop by here, but I guess we scared him away.
Hi
The knives arrived today. We will get them off to the boys in their next care packages. I am sure they will put them to good use and they will be something to remind them that Ameicans do care. A knife of that quality from a total stanger becomes a keepsake for life. Thank you.

That night my arm began to swell inside the cast. Now THAT was excruciating.I got goosebumps reading that. I can't even begin to imagine how badly that had to have hurt.

Stay warm, Rosie! We're not quite *that* cold here (yet), but we're somewhere in the single digits tonight, with wind chills below zero.
Drinkin' coffee, staying toasty.

The "Coulter Castle" was about the coolest place I ever seen!
What a beach! What a sea!

They aren't even telling us the predicted windchill for tonight...report just says "dangerously cold". Air temps are supposed to be -15 to -30. I'm hoping for near the low end, if only for the sake of my heat bill!
I have hot tea, though. And a blanket. And a book. Could be worse!

THREE sons in the military?? That's wonderful! They'll be in our prayers, for sure. Hope they enjoy the knives!

German Potato Salad 6 slices of bacon, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green onion (I use yellow that works just fine)
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
6 medium potatoes (about 2 1/2 pounds)(peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/4 cup water
1. Place bacon and onion in small bowl or 1-quart casserole; cover. Microwave at High until bacon is light brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir in vinegar, sugar, and salt. Set aside.
2. Place potato slices and water in 2-quart casserole; cover. Microwave at High until potatoes are fork-tender, 10 to 15 minutes, stirring after half the cooking time. Drain. Pour bacon and vinegar mixture over potato slices. Toss to coat.

Thanks. ;-) We can use all the warmth we can get!

"Was Ann there?" No, but if she'd have know about it, she'd have wanted to be there, if for no other reason than to meet us!
