The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Her same ole obsessive compulsive licking happened to her paw.... Her right paw heals, she starts on the left....

She is the most spoiled dog ever to have an abandonment disorder.

How long should we keep paid bill stubs?

I think they have a half life of about 50 years.....

I keep mine in a pile until I am done paying bills, then I toss them next time I get up.

So in 50 years, you can throw half of them away... and in another fifty years, another half... you'll never get out from under them...

Okay, so what am I gonna fix Nana for dinner? Luke still isn't eating. I'm pushing liquids, but he's been pretty lethargic most of the day.

I could fend for myself, but I have a 75-year-old mother-in-law who can't make it down the stairs. She's gonna get hungry. Wife and Jr. won't be home until after 10 pm.

NEW SHIPMENT TO SOLDIERS!!!

I am later than I intended with this, but I got some packages ready to mail on Monday. First, remember the young medic that FReeper Jonesie told 2J about who had no packages since he's been in Iraq? Okay, I got him a pretty good package on my shoestring budget. He's getting 2 boxes of snack cakes, a box of hot chocolate mix, 6 hand/foot warmer packages, a bit bag of shampoo, a half dozen batteries, a bag of chips, a can of bean dip, some gum, a bunch of Atomic Fireballs, some dried apricots, a couple of tubes of Carmex and a few of the magazines that 300winmag sent me.

Here it is all boxed up ready to send. I gotta write him a little letter to add to this still.

Okay, now for our regular platoon that's been getting stuff all this time I've got a little box of snack cakes, batteries and magazines. Also, am sending them 2 jars of my homemade jelly! :-)

And now, for Graybeard58's son Steve, I'm fixing up a box of candies. I gotta go to WalMart tonight (after midnight to avoid the rush) and get some hard candy to fill out this box but in it is a bag of jelly beans, a bag of Twizzlers and gum. Sent him a bunch of fireballs last time so I need to pick up something else to fill up the box.

I made this HUGH pot of homemade stew yesterday. I'll share with you and Nana.

Even when I try to make small amounts of stuff.... by the time I add all the ingredients - it's like enough for me for 5 days!!!

Yes, thanks for the reminder. I'll get a package out to him on Monday.

You mentioned short budget. I'll send you some more for postage.

I'm thinking pizza, but soup may be an option. How do you make soup?

I'm not really stressed. I've just been working in the office on and off. Gotten some stuff done. Don't have the tree up, but I'm not going to until someone else finishes the living room. It's not the Christmas season I'd planned. But I'm used to that around here.

Luke is still coughing pretty badly and he's wheezing a bit. I'll give him another nebulizer treatment soon. I'm pinging the other mom-types to see if you have any suggestions to help his cough. He's been wearing a vapor rub patch. I can't give him any more medicine until 10 p.m.

You know, we may have some frozen soup in the freezer. I'm gonna go look.

In other news Gandalf is about to take a nose dive off the bridge...

Thank you, that would be much appreciated, I've actually only received $50 this month that is leftover from sending Winmag money designated for knives or Photons or postage from Christmas sending. And - er - I've spent $129.45. Thanks for any you can send.... cause it'll cost a good bit just to mail these 3 packages too.

Have you got steam going in the room where he is? And cough drops of some kind for him to suck on? Even peppermint candy works sort of.

No steam. And our humidifier hasn't been winterized so I don't wanna turn that on and send mold out into the air. He's not sitting up, so I'm a little leary of hard candy. He cough's less when he sits up, but he just doesn't feel like it.

In other news, I found one of those "Campbell Bake" things in the pantry. Just add chicken and bake. I can do that. I can cook other stuff too, but I'm not too good at just looking at what we have and making it a meal.

Soup = some kind of meat, some assorted veggies, salt and pepper - all boiled for a while! :-)

Of course, some combinations and seasonings really make it good.... but that's the basics.

The two guys' names are Bryan and Ryan. The way Jonsie explained it in her freepmail, Bryan was her son, and I sent him two HHD knives. The other was for Ryan, whose name I didn't know at the time.

It turns out that Ryan is Jonsie's son, and Bryan is the one not getting enough mail from home. Bryan is getting the knives, along with a note saying "the other one is for your buddy who doesn't get much mail." I'm sure things will straighten themselves out. (I hope).
