Since you're big on logic, you would probably recognize the fallacy of vilifying other religions. Logically, one religion has no more proof to its rightness (or righteousness) than any other, so why should two people whose beliefs conflict fight? Why should they be trying to convert or eliminate each other? Even if one religion spread to every person on earth, and the world was united, it would give no more veracity to its tenets.

All right. I'll go on your theory for now. If he is a kid, we should show him how he's wrong. I'm just waiting for our holiday troll to come along.

"Since you're big on logic, you would probably recognize the fallacy of vilifying other religions."

LOL! I didn't "villify any "religion". Simple stated a logical rule - two opposing doctrines can NOT be true at the same time.

Logically, one religion has no more proof to its rightness (or righteousness) than any other, so why should two people whose beliefs conflict fight?"

LOL again! I repeat, two opposing doctrines can NOT be true at the same time. Obviously, since you can't discern ... amongst other things ... the "conflict" is that one belief is true and the other is false. As for "proof" that can be accomplished as well. A reasonable person can come to a logical conclusion based on the evidence available. Wonder why you can't ... .

"Why should they be trying to convert or eliminate each other? Even if one religion spread to every person on earth, and the world was united, it would give no more veracity to its tenets."

Why not? Why not eliminate a false belief. At one time people believed the earth was square. Should that belief NOT be eliminated? Evidence indicate otherwise. According to you it would be better off to disregard the evidence of the falseness of the belief. LOL!

It's not about "veracity to its tenets". It's all about what is true and what is false.

A short course in logic would do wonders in cleaning up you thinking.

"LOL! I didn't "villify any "religion". Simple stated a logical rule - two opposing doctrines can NOT be true at the same time."

Well, by your comment you seemed to be advocating that the 'true' religion should try to defeat the 'untrue' religion. I inferred that defeating a religion would necessitate villifying it..

"Obviously, since you can't discern ... amongst other things ... the "conflict" is that one belief is true and the other is false..."

Obviously they cannot both be true, but obviously they can both be false. Your flawless logic didn't catch that one.

"As for "proof" that can be accomplished as well. A reasonable person can come to a logical conclusion based on the evidence available..."

Oh. There's proof that one religion is true? Someone should probably call the other religions and clue them in then..

"Why not? Why not eliminate a false belief. At one time people believed the earth was square. Should that belief NOT be eliminated? Evidence indicate otherwise. According to you it would be better off to disregard the evidence of the falseness of the belief. LOL!"

LOL!.. Anyway.. If I managed to convince every human that the world was flat, it wouldn't make my claim any more true. The same would be true if one religion 'won.' But I forgot, you're religion is true, and the rest are false. How altruistic of you.

"It's not about "veracity to its tenets". It's all about what is true and what is false.
A short course in logic would do wonders in cleaning up you thinking."

A short trip to websters would clean up your thinking... "veracity to its tenets" means the same thing as "whether its true or false."

There is a way that seems right to a man (or in your case a child), but the end thereof is destruction.

Be careful!

Excessive exclamatory abuse can make your scanner go blind and cause hair to grow on your mousepad.

More evidence that exclamation points travel in pairs. Didn't anybody ever tell you that the percieved credibility of any written piece is in inverse proportion to the number of exclamation points used in it?

That said, we should be tolerant of the religion of others. Right up to the point where they seek to destroy us and ours, or try to break down our law, or advocate practices that injure others and dilute the force of law and custom that has kept our system stable for centuries.
