Yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that that was the auger in question, only that they make them that large. We have construction firms around here running 4-6 diameter augers for concrete pier footings. Again, I am not an expert but maybe these have a second use as a radiation detection tool or whatever they were claiming....:-)(not likely huh?)

Kidnappings to be next? From Debka:
New Al Qaeda Kidnap Guide to Force Release of Detainees in US, Saudi, Yemeni Hands
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
November 25, 2003, 11:47 PM (GMT+02:00)
Bin Laden sets sights on new objective.
Just 24 hours after its countdown threat to the United States (reported below) , al Qaeda has compiled a detailed kidnappers manual for snatching American troops, diplomats and civilian personnel working with US forces or any Americans at all - in Muslim countries.
The manual, a copy of which has reached DEBKAfiles counter terror sources, lists dos and donts for the Islamic kidnap team. They are told how to organize for a mission, trail their quarry and cover up their tracks cunningly enough to buy time and lose themselves before the abduction is discovered and the enemy sets out in pursuit.
Young soldiers, they are told, can hold out for several days without food or water until the previously prepared hideout is reached.
Hiding places must be selected in sparsely-populated regions. The kidnappers or their commanders must know the locals well enough to be sure they can be trusted not to go running to the authorities to sell the whereabouts of the secret prison."

So, tell me; do you really believe the helicopter is most likely an asset of the Nuclear Emergency Search Team (NEST) and the line is carrying an array of "directional flux probes" designed to search for the "signature" of a radiological device. ?

Thanks for posting something more credible to this thread.

Hmmm, huge power plant, high voltage. Wouldn't be one of these, would it?

Nope, the blades were definitely corkscrew auger-like.

Indeed, this one was not anywhere near that large, but same shape.

Let us affirm the finished work of Christ over all officials and all demonic forces and that "no weapon formed against the purposes of God will prosper." (Rev 1:5; Col 1:12-18, 2:15; Is 54:17). Ask the Lord to reveal and implement His "whole armor," grant wisdom, and show how free Iraqis and Coalition leaders and forces are to cooperate and to "stand" together. (Eph 6:13) Let us petition the Lord of Hosts to deploy the angelic forces necessary to "clear the spiritual air," execute the "judgments" the Lord has decreed, protect human life, bring peace and order, constitutional good government, and the redemption and reconstruction He is intending for the Iraqi people(s). (Ps 2:6-12; 91:11-12; 1 Tim 2:2-5) Sure, that sounds like "news" to me.
There are thousands of Christian websites that I am sure would be happy to discuss Minister Frangipane's fascinating e-mail.
Why do you have to post it on a political forum when your purpose is clearly religious?

People can decry Debka all they want.
In this case, a lot of highly reliable, reputable sources are saying very similar things.
Besides that, Debka has more hits than people give them credit for.
And in today's complex world rife with floods of disinformation and great complexities at best . . . no one's going to get it anywhere near 100% right even most of the time.

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

AWESOME PAUCITY Is that something like GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE?
To: WackyKat
So interesting that you claim to view so accurately the purposes and intentions of my heart and mind.
And you want me to consider
THAT
credible?
HO HO HO. HEE HEE HEE. GEEE HAW!
1) Citizens deserve to have at hand all remotely reasonable alerts to make up their own minds about.
2) Especially Freepers.
3) Many FREEPERS are great prayer warriors very given to and capable of impacting events in historic ways.
4) Posts such as this with multiple purposes normally do not boggle most FREEPER'S minds. They are usually well able to wrap their minds around such minimal complexities. Some are even quite gifted at ignoring whatever parts are not their cup of tea.
5) I have noticed that some folks with certain kinds of rigid, strong, harsh burrs in their saddles or corn cobs in dark places can get rather hostile to a rather irrational degree. I hope you aren't planning to join such ranks.
6) Is your scroll button or page down button really THAT broken?

Well, I worry about kidnappings of Americans abroad a lot, because my daughter is married to a missionary. They and three of their children live in a country that is 95% Muslim.
This is an instance where I hope Debka is totally wrong, but...kidnapping works for the Filipino Muslims as a terror tool. Why not in Iraq?

There is NO WAY that little MD-500 carried that big screw!
To: sissyjane
I understand the feeling and share it to some degree.
But giving in to it would suit Al-Qaeda more than our own interests.
ETERNAL VIGILANCE
is more than an idle phrase, to me.
And tedious, burdensome, incredulity etc. in some measures go with the territory.
I think it's called modern life. And it will get worse.
