Word For The Day, Wednesday, November 26, 2003
The Verbivores | 11/26/03 | Teacher

Posted on 11/26/2003 5:11:30 AM PST by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

osculate \ohs*cue*late\, verb:
osculated, osculates, osculating; transitive, intransitive verb
osculation; noun
deosculate, deosculation; (fondly)
exosculate, exosculation; (vigorously)

1. To kiss..
2. Mathematics: To have three or more points coincident with.
3. To come together; contact.

A Plain Old Kiss
Some people need a peck or two;
For others a simple smooch will do;
Too many, a graze will stimulate;
A few may want to osculate.
And then, there are those who need a smack,
For flowery words they have a knack.
But all I want from you is bliss,
Which you can give me with a plain, old kiss!
- Arr. Ara John Movsesian

Etymology [Latin scul r , scul t-, from sculum, kiss, diminutive of s, mouth. See s- in Indo-European Roots.]

So I've been told.

Unfotunately, other than my cyberspace friends I don't know anyone who has ever done one or even tasted it.

Like I said - I'm so deprived.

xs2pup was deposited at 7am. they asked if i had bathed him. i said NO ONE mentioned that i had to bathe him, on the phone when we went over this. she asked when he was last bathed, and i had bathed him a week or so ago, she thought that would be ok. i said listen, i am looking to keep the dang cost down on this, my husband is already having a fit over it. he will have to spend the night. i can get him at 10:30 am tomorrow. they wanted to keep him til MONDAY!!! i am not paying to board him for 4 days, Good LORD! oh and SG, remember you suggested getting them to clip his nails while asleep. $14. right on the form, nail clipping and ear cleaning while anesthetized...

he kissed us goodbye and went in with the girlie. they are going to call when he wakes up...

Well, second night in Bangkok, and I succumed, had a bag full of fried bamboo worms (tasted like cheetos) and a fried cricket, (not bad!) and a small grasshopper (good, but too many parts). In my defense, I shied away from the huge cockroaches, the dung beetles and the deep fried baby frogs.

I love this town just bought a few thousand dollars of digital editing DVD software for about 3 bucks and a "Genuine" Breitling watch for about $20....

well his was complicated by the fact that his testicles were undescended, so they had to go in anyway, which is why they are repairing the hernia, since they are in there anyway. i don't recall what we paid to have darby done, but his was conventional neutering and was while we were boarding him while we were away for the weekend anyway. I know it was not more than $300 for the whole shebang though.

I'm kind of in a whirlwind these days, so who is going to pummel your team tomorrow? I'll probably miss it because we have to go up to Connecticutt for my aunt's surprise 70th birthday party. (I used to threaten to throw my mom a *hugh* surprise 50th -- a few years earlier. ;) )

We'll have to see if we can come up with something to neutralize Mr. Spanky for you. LOL!

Yep, stuff like this *always* happens in Brooklyn. Usually, it's fireworks in the home on July 4th...

2 BURNED WHILE FRYING TURKEY

November 28, 2003 -- Two women were badly burned yesterday as they tried to deep-fry a turkey at a home in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, officials said.

The mother and daughter had second-degree burns on their arms and legs after they were splattered with hot oil at around 2:30 p.m., Fire Department officials said. It was unclear how the Thanksgiving Day accident occurred.

Fire officials said the women could have been using a pot or pan unsuited to frying a turkey - or that the bird could have contained water that caused the oil to splash and spit.

Good morning you 2.

We were discussing Christmas presents for Jax this morning and decided on her "big" one. Hubby had errands to run so said he would run up to Wal-mart and grab one and put it on lay-away, since he was going to be fairly close to there anyway.

I looked at him like he had 2 heads. He couldn't figure out why I was so incredulous............until I reminded him that it's Black Friday..................Needless to say - I will go on Monday or Tuesday.
