That is a pretty broad brush you are using, Nully. I love my conservative elected officials in my state and district. I especially loved our late Bill Emerson.

The government cannot create jobs. The only way the government can protect your job is to lower taxes and mandated environment costs to business, so that outsourcing is not a viable choice.

I have several relatives working for Wal-Mart. They have worked their way up from entry level positions over a few years. In fact...they have better hours and pay than when I left the hospital after seventeen years in the field. And I did not have stock options or bonuses. They are very happy with their career choice.

Normal people don't go into politics, and if they tried they'd be booted out one way or the other, by the 'ones' that be.

They have to be so egotistical to do what they do, and that alone makes them an oddity. "I can do for you what no other has done or tried before". Ohhhhhhhhhh sure you can you weasel.. lol.

Beat your gums and beat your drums, you don't do anything for me anymore. You're all alike as far as I can see..

I'm a Patriotic, Country Lovin Conservative, that is starting to lose my faith in the whole deal. I really wish I knew where to turn, but I don't. They are all leaving me cold.. :(

Well. I'm glad to hear that they really are lowering taxes, and cuting regulations and red tape.

This Bill Emerson you're so pleased with. Can you name ONE tax he'd cut? How about ONE regulation he eliminated?

Take your time...

You're absolutelty right Babe..they did make a good career choice. Someday Walmart will be one of the only businesses left.

You know what this country needs real bad too, don't you? Nurses.. they are so hardup for them they are bringing them in from overseas, and paying them half of what our nurses should be getting. The poor nurses are leaving because they can't keep their backs in working order, because of getting too much work that used to be done by aides etc.. No aides, cost too much, so literally put it on the nurses backs.

The Dr's are all leaving the field because they can't pay liability insurance, and now you can't understand most of your Dr's English..because it's a second language. It just goes round and round. D'uh..

The late Bill Emerson was part of the 104th Republican congress that changed many regulations. Newt is to be commended for it, methinks. Lets see, he voted for welfare reform. Welfare is no longer an entitlement, like social security. No tax cuts that year, though.

And then, this administration gave one. I spent mine. LOL

My hospital had one on one nursing in ICUs. The nurses took total care of a patient. No aides. They did all the highly skilled functions of care, as well as bathing and turning.

There is really no shortage of nurses. There are many in the field who just do not want to do actual patient care any longer, because of the hours and holiday work. The majority of nurses are still women with family responsibilities. But many men are coming into the field now. When my hospital offered a five thousand dollar incentive to sign a three year contract to work, most of the respondants were male nurses.

And, if a nurse does not turn a patient properly, as she was taught, she will get a bad back. I weigh 103 pounds and could slide a 300 lb patient up in bed and turn him without difficulty.

The matter of physicians liability is a fact. The same can be said of physicians assistants. We need tort reform and yesterday. LOL

Darn, I will have the grandkids while the superbowl is on so that their parents can watch it in peace. We don't give a fig of football. So, it will be peanut butter sandwiches and chocolate milk here. LOL

Your QB (Brady) is unlikely to be decked, so have no fear......But if he is, I'm warning you....they are much bigger and faster than you....heh heh heh.....

Brady is far better than most give him credit for. He is tough, quick minded, very prepared and has a will that is simply extraordinary.

Yes, I'm rooting for the Pats, but I think this one will be very close. Without him they would not be there.

At least with a member of the stupid party (or was that the evil party, who can really tell the difference?) as president the conservatives would have the sense to keep an eye on him!

I'm having to agree with you here. It seems that the best way to keep things somewhat in check is to have a divided government - one party in control of Congress while another party is in control of the White House.

Gridlock can be our friend.

We slept in today.

A very nice thing, indeed.

Two days would have been better though.

LOL If Linda is anything like me, she has NO sense of direction

It's a woman thing.....and yes, particularly strong in Linda.

Gridlock can be our friend.

I sent an e-mail to the W campaign yesterday, because I am really upset with the immigration reform bill, the actual bill, not bringing up the conversation.....and the domestic budget pander/buying.

That being said, I will have to take more than a deep breath and forget everything I know about the nineties and what it was like to have a truly rotten to the core President to get where some are ready to go.

Make no mistake, it would be a disaster with anyone besides Lieberman from the Dems side in the oval office once again. They are all a disaster in the making, every last one. Different than BJ, but nonetheless the same kind of disaster. I really don't think we could get off the carpet if one of them wins this time.

I'm not sure what to do, I am not a happy camper here, but giving it over to the Dems is the stupidest philosophy there is......

Well, which one do you want to vote out first...congress or the Potus? Kerry would make a nice counter balance in your gridlock theory. LOL

I don't know what to do either. I am definately not happy. And I do clearly remember the 8 years of the corrupt Clintons, and don't want to see a return to that. Anway, I guess discussing politics on this thread isn't the best thing to do - there are plenty of other places to cuss and discuss. *sigh*

We've had disagreements on this thread.....and discussions of political things we disagree on.

We have survived.......

I don't mind being disagreed with.......for sure, I don't have a clear answer to the problem of seeing Republicans doing the wrong thing.

Discussions usually help.....sometimes heated rants like mine don't. On the other hand.....it's purging.

*Feeling sheepish*
