Good to see you still up...

Got the report yesterday from the vet as to the cancer that Missie had...the tumor was the size of a tennis ball and the lab came back still inconclusive..said it was a soft tissue spindle cell sarcoma. But it was in a primitive state meaning that the cell development had yet to become sufficient for them to determine the origin of the cancer..ie thyroid..muscle ..etc..they just don't know and it is frustrating for all of us. The remark also said that this was a highly metastatic cancer however there was not one bit found anywhere in her other that the mass in the neck. Seems it compressed the trachea and esophagus and the jugular..in the end the jugular was flattened sort of like if you stepped on a hose with water running..it quits out of one end and just I suppose blows on the other ..there was no evidence that it compressed other structures such that she could not breathe etc..the doctor was amazed that Missie lived as long as she did..pure will to live...

My vet is so special..she did the necropsy at no cost to me except for the 51.oo for the IDDEXX study...how great is that....

Looking back, when Missie was first found to be hyperthyroid, I should have done the sintrigraphy because the tumor might have been discovered then and be small enough that something could have been done. But the cost of 1500 buck is somewhat of a show stopper until you consider the costs that add up with the bloods taken 3 to 4 times a year at about 131 a pop and the meds at about 30 a month...just a word to any pet owner out there with a hyperthyroid pet..consider sintigraphy...

We are doing ok...at least it was not as sudden to lose her as it was with Nacho who crashed with hypertension...we had good quality time with her and she knew it..
