That's a gorgeous cat! Sadly, our Maine Coone cat, Maia, has kidney disease now. She is 14, and still doing OK, but I don't know how long that will last. We're feeding her special food, Purina NF (for kidney function), but not doing anything else right now. I've talked to the vet a couple of different times, but she doesn't seem to be very proactive in terms of any treatment to support the kidney function. I'd done some research, and it seems that there are some medications and supplements that may help slow the progress of the disease, but she wasn't too helpful. I guess I'll need to do some vet shopping.

This is a photo of my cat, Maia, shortly after coming back from the groomer:

That's the size it is where I have it stored. Is there a way I can enlarge it a bit when posting?

Wow - that's beautiful!

I'm sorry about your Maine Coon. I looked up that breed, too and they sound wonderful.
Hope you find a vet who can prescribe a reasonable treatment for her.

I'm afraid trying to enlarge it will just cause pixelation, which doesn't make it any easier to see. You'll have to get some new pics. Is she orange? I thought all orange cats were male.

Have you ever heard of or seen a Ragdoll cat?
To: ValerieUSA
She a red classic tabby. That color can be either sex. Calico cats are almost always female, though. That photo was larger when I scanned it in, but when I moved it to on-line storage it "became" larger. I need to find another on-line storage service. This one is with my isp, so I don't pay extra for it. See what get?
I have another appointment with the vet on Friday to see how she's doing. The good news is we caught it very early before the creatine and BUN levels got really high. That's usually when most people find out - when the cat all of a sudden gets really ill. She'd had a blood test this fall, and compared to the one she had last winter, it was evident that her kidneys were failing. Also, with proper care, they can live for quite a while - years, even. She is 14 now, so I can't expect that she'll live a long time now, but I think we can keep her relatively healthy for awhile yet.

Once, but not up close.
It was owned by a snoty upperclass blue blood type that didn't want their pets anywhere near the barbaric 'little people'.
*snort*
Needless to say, it was a beautiful cat from what I could see.

Previous cat was a bobcat mix that looked like that, she wasn't a Norwegian Forest Cat.
*chuckle*
A truly odd cat, and if I had the available cash I'd get a NFC since the breed is supposed to be affectionate to begin with.
