That kind of coin will purchase a very nice, fast, competent used motorcycle. I can't determine the demographic to whom the scooter manufacturers target their advertising? I simply do not see any advantages to owning them over a motorcycle, save for smaller parking space required.
A friend of the family just sold a showroom quality, white-glove-clean 1991 Kawasaki ZX-6 with 12,000 on the odometer for at least a grand less than the MSRP for this scooter. It'll run for years and offers much greater transportation flexibility.
