~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

He lives in my heart
where we will never part
ours is a forever thing
even tho there was no ring
Love is to the marrow
neverending in a tomorrow
star walkers we two
hand in hand thru
the nebula of the Crab
on the side of the Milky Way
and in the spiral of the stars
yes, it's his, yes it ours
our lonely walk in the stars...

I would walk with him
in the moonlight
listen for the call of
the lonely dove
and know it was
him remembering me
on cold nights in our memory

All around, I see her
Her voice in the whispering of the trees
Her face illuminated in the stars
Yet I fear it is only me who remembers
My faith must stay strong, lest I wither
The night is cold
My love is warm
But she is not in my arms.

I wonder
does he think of me
in the same way

does he think of me at all
has he forgotten
has he found another love

does he long for me in the night
as I toss and turn
struggling to sleep so I can be with him

Just fittin' in .. ;)

Oh, she I love,
If only I could find a way
Distance cuts like a knife
Time is not my friend.

How can I tell you?
The frustration rends my soul
My mind screams, but you cannot hear
The voice echoes and sadly fades

Do you remember?
Do you care?
Can your voice in the wind dry my tears?
I miss you so

LOL. I'm so glad to see you use the expression "fall out", must be a regional thing. I've had to explain it to SAM at least twice when I've said something using that expression.

ROTFLOL! There are a lot of expressions in this part of the country that throw folks from elsewhere, for some reason. They make perfectly good sense to us though, right? hehe! I pretty much type the same way I talk. Ms. feather can vouch for that, right feather? *giggle*

Ok, I'm about to get snatched bald here so I'd better git. "Sleepy head" says "Hi" backatcha feather. :-) Catch y'all later.....again. hehe!

Oh I know he thinks of me
in my thoughts he thinks of me
he thinks of me
on our walks he talks to me
and I know, I know he thinks of me

I struggle not to sleep at night
he has told me it's alright
and I believe him without doubt
our day will come and we will shout

A silent creeping
up the hill
sent a chill o'er
the rill and I stood
the ground and watched
the silent thief of love
escape with the dove.
Left alone on the hill
I knew there would
never be a will for me
to summon the dove
let it be free and
I'll watch my watch
my memory and me...

LOL! I guess it's good to get mushy every once in a while. Just don't make it a habit.

Summer Rides On Gossamer Wings

To drift on summer's breeze aboard the Dragonfly,
one sees the world from inches up in the sky,
and it makes the world seem larger as you go flying by.

Buzzing wings dull the mind and so restful it becomes,
that one might sleep the whole day through and then some,
under sultry summer's loving sun.

Take the time and fly away,
give yourself the chance to play,
and forget the world today.

Well, the dragonfly was a quick sketch done while my artillery unit was setting up to fire blank rounds for the 1812 Overture back in '98.
(We also fire golf balls out of the howitzer, but that was our then Cap's idea. It looked neat, admittedly.)
Alotta memory attached to that one sketch, and several after it.
I didn't have any fixative spray at the time, and had no real way to preserve any of those sketches.
But I will always remember that sketch with humor.

It was hysterical to me, right after doing the sketch, we had to roust a few stoned people from the bushes directly in front of the muzzles.
We yelled into the brush that they should come out now because they would get hurt.
This statement was answered with hushed giggles and very audible statements about how they were invisible and we couldn't hear them.

So we loaded up and extra blank round and fired.
About 12 stoners flew like the wind across the golf course that was on the other side of the brush in abject terror.
It's fear that gives men wings.
My seargent looked at me and goes, "Keller, how the heck could they think we didn't know they were there? What the heck just happened?"
I shrugged and answered my seargent that they were probably dropping acid.

Then our Captain walked by and dropped golfballs down the howitzer tubes, all while trying to look innocent.
Stunk that we lost him to S3 in a transfer with promotion.
If we could have kept that Captain, we would have.
Instead, we lost him and got a new guy who was a jerk.
