If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

    Pleased to meet you, Sarge!
This place is special. Feeling like a part of it already. I posted one piece earlier today and am working on another, much more positive, effort. :)

Colonel, please join in on the writing. Only too happy to oblige. :)

The Field
I can see myself beneath my skin
The inside, the place I guard
 as life itself.

The fog lifts; the mist burns away
 Beyond, an unseen field
 Unknown to me.

Hesitant, I advance, but as I move
 New voices call to me
 Voices of friends.

"Fear not," they say, "come hence."
"The breeze is warm, the burden light,"
 "Enjoy the view."

Regrets and pain remain, but now
 A new first step awaits
 Into the field.

I adore you, she I love,
And please know I always will
 Joy of my heart.

 But stepping forward heals me
 Freedom I find, words liberate
 I start anew!

I can see myself beneath my skin
The inside, the place I guard
 as life itself.
  Under my skin
 deep within
 the sanctuary
 of my soul
 glows my love
 for him
 he is my love

 my soft covering
 against the cold
 hard rains of day
 chaffing winds of
 yesterday...

 he is my succor
 my balm of healing
 my harmony of the
 subliminal

 my ballast and
 my keel
 I love him
 to the narrow
 marrow of my bones...

He is til death do we part...

Very nice Colonel, the anticipation of the new venture shines through and the emotions felt are clear.

I also see you have inspired feather to pen a reply. Wonderful!

I have a feeling we will see more of you here and that's a good thing. :)

    Good Morning Ms. Feather!
It's been a while for me. I haven't quite gotten used to finding your threads each day.
Since I've been quite busy, and haven't had time to write anything new, I thought I'd post something that I've found, and have in my "Firefighter's Collection"
A Volunteer Firefighter's Prayer
God; please, as you tuck them in tonight, Keep the children safe..
Let me not have to hear their cries From a careless act of fate..

Keep their parents all aware, the fragilness Of each young soul..
Don't let them waiver from their role of Watching out for them..

Will not, a fire in the night and drag me From my slumber..
To listen to the grieving hearts or the Gratitude of others..

I don't want to hear the siren for an Auto wreck tonight..
I've untangled enough twisted metal With the Jaws of Life..

And when I wake tomorrow, grant me patience When I see,
A mother driving with her child Without a safety seat..

Grant me wisdom in the situations I might face with each new day,
In case, by chance, there might be a newborn on the way..

Just in case I lose the fight for someone's Life I battled,
Remind me that I'm fallible, just as human As the rest..

Give me courage to move on although It may not be enough..
And let me always give my best..

Good morning Johnny. Sooooo nice to see you.

Nice poem you have given us this morning. I have always enjoyed your Firemen's Poems.

We have some wondeful poets here Johnny. I would like for you to meet Flurry, Old Sarge, and our Colonel Flagg. Perhaps you know The Colonel from the Foxhole.

If you wish I can ping you in my opening ping. I do not post a daily thread.
