~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Do you know, I do?

THE WATER DRAGON

Alone she swims in murky depths below.
It's said her eyes are dark and eerie with
an amber glow. We're told her home is far
away, a mystic place of ancient myth.
The truth unknown, our minds conjecture still,
a monstrous eel, menacing, coiled in wait.
We've not seen her and pray we never will,
to meet, we're sure, would bring a fearful fate.

But why are we afraid to venture deep?
Our apprehension seems to be too strong,
like nightmares bringing terror as we sleep,
yet morning finds us safe where we belong.

And does this dragon live in distant sea?
Or is she lying, buried deep in me?

Believing I must radiate cheer and light,
I go about my tasks throughout the day.
Why do I lie awake into the night
with anxious thoughts that will not go away?
We're told that dragons are malignant things
that prey on those exploring the unknown,
and some are said to have enormous wings
to chase down those who venture out alone.

But then a dragon voice speaks from within.
She tells me that the dark must be explored,
my hidden hopes and fears are not a sin,
instead, in dusky places dreams are stored.

For now I see her beauty as I find
that she was always there, but I was blind.

Good morning feather.

...and make good rhyme!

I won't be rhyming but hopefully by evening or maybe tomorrow I'll be caught up enough to write something!

Classic Poets On Love

No one was ever yet a great poet,
without being at the same time a profound philosopher.
For poetry is the blossom and the fragrancy of all human knowledge, human thoughts,
human passions, emotions, language.
(Samuel Taylor Coleridge)

..for no matter what dull clay we seemed to be before,
we are every one of us a poet when we are in love. (Plato)

Howdy ms. feather. Yep, still back and forth to the workshop and not enough sleep. But that's ok. I really enjoy working with glass, especially now that hubby dearest built the new work table. MUCH easier on my back.

Here's one for all who know the;

Music of the City

A city has a beat, that gets into the feet,
move’n everyone on, to its music from dusk to dawn.
Listen to the tune, and get the pulse soon,
dance’n to the City, feel its life hot and gritty.

The bass beat is the sounds, of the trucks all around,
bringing in the stuff, sold good times or rough.
Entwining beats set the pace, giving life to this race,
solid throb of life, amid the clatter of daily strife.

The melodic flow, is the cars and crowds you know,
a million patterns all in tune, captivate you soon.
Carrying you along with the flow, adding steps as it goes,
making the dance, a living thing far from happenstance.

The lead is you, you know, the slapping of your feet as you go,
sets you rocking to the City’s beat, played by your willing feet.
Makes the song come alive, moving to the urban jive,
doing the boulevard boogie, as alive as you can be.
