~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~
November 7, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

You're welcome, ms. feather. I'd forgotten til today that I had a shot of Cotton awake. LOL!

He's spooked by anyone who comes over, it wasn't just you while you were here. I'll never understand why some of these critters are timid and others are "in your face" friendly....like ol' Fred.

Dang it, I was in a hurry earlier and I hate it when this happens....I forgot to thank you for the poem you wrote about your trip. I copied it into a draft so I can print it off. Petey and Aunt Clara will love it, too.

Thank you!

Another for you Lady Feather

What The Cowboy Saw

The old cowboy saddled up and headed into town,
to see what life was like where the clock never did run down.
Glaring light and overpriced beer, and folks who didn’t seem to care,
and others who weren’t exactly all there, made the place seem a Nutter’s fair.

Fast food so bad coyotes would let it be, and start gnaw’n on a tree,
and traffic flowing like a raging river, full of fools as their victims flee.
Noise enough to shatter stone and something called music that soured the ear,
it left one deef and a bit confused, and just this side of mindless fear.

Women dressing like hookers on parade, suing for looking at the goods,
men who’d got’n touch with their feminine side, should’ve been wearing hoods!
Youngster in pants falling down, and caps on wrong to spite their faces,
made the old cowboy wonder mighty about the future of all races.

Word were everywhere and most were obscene as they could be,
it made one wonder if common sense and intelligence did flee!
Dog crap on sidewalks and folks in the gutter and nobody care’n,
if this was the good life, thanks for not share’n!

He saddled back up and headed for friendlier places,
where beer was cost less, and the people had familiar faces.
Never again to Gomorra to go, enough is enough and then some you know,
slow down and live, see the world going by, enjoy the short life, say whoa!

Thanks Feather.

Trikebuilder, I like reading your poems, nice to see the talent that's out there. Makes me wish I paid more attention to poetry in school.

By request, Ms. Feather:

Night.
The abscence of light,
...but not of life.
For We are watching...

We are the ones in the back of the club, watching your mating rites with eyes glowing;

We are the ones behind the glass, feeding your bodies with empty food and emptier eyes;

We are the ones patrolling your streets, with blue suits and badges, and loved ones missing us;

We are the ones whose fingers dance on our keys, in the quiet of our rooms, in the dead of night;

For while the Moon sleeps, and the Sun dreams on,

We coast through the lines of your lives, on invisible threads of light,

Sharing our thoughts, which all ignore;
Sharing our dreams, which all deny us;
Sharing our selves, with none but ourselves...

Listen to Us...
The Children of the Night Shift...
What Music We Make.
