~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~
November 7, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

you should all have blue auras about you
so we would instantly be able to identify you
instead you blend in amongst us

brothers, fathers, sons
sisters, mothers, daughters
white collar, blue collar and pink

history may be written on your face
but we are unaware

minus the aura painted blue to surround you
perhaps instead, we who know who we are
should carry ourselves with a smile in passing our countrymen

being forever thankful that you chose
to serve and defend the country
in which we so fortunately live

To all our veterans -- Thank you

from a far off country your parents brought you
to the land of the free and the home of the brave
and you became one of America's sons

as you grew, the fabric of your soul
became intricately woven among the threads of Old Glory
your spirit sings the songs of our founding fathers

for payment not required you volunteered to give all
you joined the many that fight for the freedom we possess
you band of brothers, our beloved countrymen

in harms way you proudly served, came home and served again
older now and out of uniform you continue to serve in both words and deeds

your love of country, deeper than home grown
blessed with knowing the true meaning of liberty and freedom
causes you to respect America's flag and all it stands for

your love of country will never die
and when you've given her all you have to give
you will rest in the bosom of her for eternity

a blessed Veterans Day to you SAMWolf

it's easy to love you
and call you my friend

"Be Worthy"

Do not give us medals or ribbons for our death,
For where we are, we cannot wear them, about them we cannot know.
Do not raise flags or hold parades for us,
For where we are, flags and bands cannot go.

We ask but one thing of you, our America, our land -
Of you who asked us to fight:
Please be worthy of the blood we shed,
Be worthy of our eternal night.

Let this be our everlasting, enduring challenge and proclamation:
Be worthy of the tears, loss, pain, and sorrow
The we, our families, and our nation
Have shed for this - your today and tomorrow.

For this, our sacrifice, we ask this and nothing more -
Remember our country, its freedom, and its history.
Let freedom, vigilance, and respect reach from shore to shore.
Do not let our lives and deaths be a mystery.

From Lexington to Gettysburg to the Ardienne Forest, to Bastogne,
To Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf, the present, and the future unknown;
Where you, our country has sent us, we have always gone
So that you and we can always call America and freedom our home.

Our blood, our hopes, our lives we gladly pay
So that on our country and its honor there is no stain.
Never let history say,
"They served, cried, bled, and died in vain."

Honor us or remember us, as you will,
But always think first of why we are not here - you, our country
Our plea will always be insistent, quiet, but still:
Please, Please be Worthy.

Ode to SAMWolf

Ode to Sam Wolf
I'm very honored to call you friend
you gave to our country your all
sucked up your young gut
with thousands of others
went where duty called.

Thanks be you came home
older and scared
confused, I don't know Sam...
I would never had the chance to
meet you had it not been for some
unusual circumstances...
beyond our control
It matters not Sam the whys
and wherefores...
What matters is now...

Thanks for spoiling me
being here now
doing all you can
once again
way beyond your call
it's the kind of guy you are Sam

art at New York's Sarah Lawrence College.

--3. During the 1960s, I was successful as a conceptual artist

--Answer to "WHO AM I?"
Yoko Ono. in 1966, she met John Lennon, a member of the Beatles. The pair fell instantly in love, and in 1969, they married and Lennon changed his name to John Ono Lennon. The couple collaborated both musically and politically, staging publicized antiwar protests and recording a hit single "GivePeace a Chance", under the name of The Plastic Ono Band. In 1970, the Beatles split-up, and Yoko continued to record and
perform music with her husband throughout the 1970s. Duringthe 1980s, following the death of her husband, Ono continued working on her experimental art and music. She released a series of avant-garde albums, culminating in the 1992 release of "Onobox", a 6-CD compilation. In October 2002, she commemorated what would have been John Lennon's 62nd birthday
by establishing the LennonOno Grant for Peace. Ono presented $50,000 checks to Palestinian artist Khalil Rabah and Israeli artist Zvi Goldstein at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

I never was a big fan of Yoko. She always reminded me of those Troll dolls, especially when her hair was long.

Her voice, to me, was like finger nails scratched along a chalk board. IIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!
Everyone has their tastes, I guess. She just never suited mine.

Yoko was different.

That's an understatement!
But you're right. She loved John and he loved her and that's what counts.

I'm glad I missed the Yoko discussion. My mom taught me if you can't say something nice, say something mean with flair.
