Re: underground tunnels, about a dozen years ago I was hired to take my dogs into an abandoned slaughterhouse in Binghamton NY to hunt out a coven of self-described Satan cultists who were frightening the neighborhood and had to be evicted before the slaughterhouse could be demolished.

From the sub basement of the slaughterhouse the dogs showed me a way into an underground tunnel that went along the river, near the big mall, I think it's called the Metro center. We found them skulking in a hidden room and corralled the idiots and marched them out to the cops.

Locals told me there is an extensive system under the city, but I didn't go far because we found the pasty faced dufuses right away.

So you got tunnels in NJ, tunnels at the great lakes, tunnels under NYC. I think the tunnels in Bing were supposed to be related to the canal, but it was a while ago and I am not certain.

I wonder if that had anything to do with the Underground Railroad? I know that runaway slaves came up from PA through Cortland County, north of Binghamton....there are many old homes in Homer and Cortland with secret rooms for the slaves to hide.....
