"A Forgotten Obligation!"

"IslamicAwakening.Com Discussion Board: Jihaad: A Forgotten Obligation!"

By MuslimahQQ on Saturday, December 20, 2003 - 01:00 pm: Edit

"Brothers and Sisters,

Allah's Messenger (sallahu alayhi wa sallam) regarding martydom, said:

'The martyr receives six good things from Allah: He forgives him as soon as his blood is spilled and shows him his place in the Garden, He protects him from the punishment of the grave, He gives him security from the GREATEST TERROR, He places on his head a crown of dignity, a single ruby of which is more valuable than this world and all that it contains, He marries him to seventy-two dark-eyed houris, and He intercedes for seventy of his relatives.'

So why brothers and sisters do we shun away from this duty. This duty that will enable us to acquire the above if we are sincere in our intentions.

Brothers why, when you know the atrocities that are happening to our mothers, brothers, sisters, and children, do you hide behind the hijaabs of your wives, seclude yourselves in the comfort of your homes. Do you not know that Allah (swt) will disgrace you on the Day of Reckoning for not even feeling hatred towards the fact that our land is occupied by the kuffar, let alone the disturbing realties of rape, torture, humiliation, that befalls our Ummah.

It is so easy for many of us to want to help the Cause. There are many of us who talk about jihad, day in day out- talk talk and talk! But what are we actually doing in preparation for this obligation??? Waking up each day, switching on our computers and posting a few articles up on a site, reading about this topic-that topic, visiting brothers. This is not enough!!! We talk-the-talk and yet our days are filled with no preparation. The mujahideen who have gone and fought on the battlefield are like flies on a wall. They are not heard and are rarely seen. They occupy themselves with the remembrance of Allah (swt). They wake up and pray Fajr, and their arms ache with the length of time they have raised them begging Allah to make them shaheed. They read and recite Qu’raan, pray tahajud and mix with only those that fear and love Allah (swt) – those that constantly remind them that this life is merely an hour in eternity and the hereafter is our final home. What do we do brothers? We pray our salah with thoughts running through our minds of our friends, properties, wealth etc etc. We go back to sleep straight after fajr without this urgency for martyrdom in our hearts. We mix with those upon fitnah and the awliya of Shaytaan. And yet we talk-the-talk and say ‘Yes I am upon the way of Rasullulah (saw) and our Ummah is suffering and I will fight feesabilillah.’ With what brothers? Your mobile phones? Your keyboards? Your internet? Your wives? Your versace trousers? Your reebok trainers?

Now I know that jihad begins with your heart, but do we not want to be in the crops of the green birds in Jannah? To intercede for our loved ones?

Brothers if you love Allah (swt), PREPARE! If you hate Shaytaan, PREPARE! If you truly believe that jihad is an obligation, PREPARE! If you truly love your wives, your children and your family and want to intercede for them, PREPARE! When are we going to talk and talk about it – until the Angel of Death comes to us and our souls are ripped from our bodies like thorns through a sheet and the angels beat us because we did not worship Allah (swt), because we fulfilled certain duties and neglected others?

You may wonder why I have been addressing brothers so far, because this is your duty, and yet you are so weak that we sisters are now preparing physically and mentally for jihad. We see our sisters in Indonesia fighting for the deen of Allah, while our brothers in the UK and US are quite happy to sit at home and watch documentaries, search the internet for hours on end, and blame others and criticise others because he/she is a YMO, sufi, salafi, jihaadi, shia!!! When are we going to live up to what we once were? A strong unified Ummah that conquered many lands and implemented Allah’s deen. Now we are weak because of the fear of Death, and because of the love of the dunya!

So sisters, it looks like the duty is also upon us. If we are brave enough like the sisters in Chechnya and Palestine, all praise is due to Allah and may Allah reward them, we will go walk the extra mile and become shaheedas! Even if our husbands are busy with this dunya, we must try to push them towards this honourable deed, and if they do not listen because they are too proud to listen to their wives, ask Allah (swt) to open their hearts. But sisters, we are the nurturers and educators of the future generation, so it is an obligation to at least raise our sons and daughters to fight to safeguard Allah’s deen. We must also be a strength!

Ya’ Allah, place in our hearts a hatred for the kuffar and a deep love for you. Place in our hearts the strength to put what we say into action. Place in our hearts the sincerity to please you in everything that we do – be it small or large actions. Ya’ Allah take away our fear and make us strong mujahids and mujahidas. Ameen.

To him we belong and to Him we return."
