[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

By the way.... for anybody living near the coast, keep your eyes peeled for helicopters with a tethered device of some type (ie: a helo with a long rope and a funnny shaped object attacked to it). I suspect this is a new method of scanning ships that are on an approach to our coasts and ports. They may be scanned in this manner while they are still some distance out at sea. Just a hunch I have. Nothing concrete. Odd you mention that. That triggered me to remember something I saw a few months ago at work. I saw a chopper flying over with a long tether and a ball at the bottom. At first I thought it was a water basket for fire fighting. But it was way too small for that, not to mention wildfire season was long over. I thought it was puzzling, but I didn't really give it a second thought until now. I happen to be in NW Oregon, so I am not too far from the coast.

I don't think we would have spent the enormous amount of money to go to orange, if all was based on a few internet ranters. Why is it going down now? Possibly for a couple of reasons. Financial drain on smaller communities and "unlikely" targets. Necessity of conserving resources to spend on "red" and aftermath if the threatened attacks- even a few of them- occur.
To: watchwoman
certain "sectors" were still under higher vigilance, although he would not say what or where those were, and he said they were not necesarily on "orange" level, either I am glad soemone heard this besides me

I suspect the threat level has been dropped in the public eye only and that for all intensive purposes, those who actually function relative to the color code are still doing so though some may be in civilian clothing now. I think NY and a few other cities had been functioning in code orange before the federal announcement.
Dropping the code may be a modus operandi of an entirely different or opposite meaning.
To: freeperfromnj
The terror alert level, however, will not be lowered in the five boroughs of New York City, which has continuously held at orange since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Redundant, duh!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to hang them from bridges too? The Skyway over the mouth of Tampa Bay should have one, and every port city with a bridge.

Could an nuke on a barge or ship at sea be detected? I wonder if they might use their "AQ navy" to park a nuke offshore, detonate it either at a particular time or if detected, and let the winds bring the radioactive plumes into the city. It might be important to look at off shore and on shore wind patterns in relationship to major cities.

Now, as to whether the particular freaks like "Daleel" and "EOM" are for real, that's been hotly debated and will continue to be so.That's where my skepticism comes in. No doubt these are very scary times that we are living in, and we here at FR in general and on the this thread in particular, seem to be a quite a bit ahead of the curve compared to the the average puke who relies upon Danpetetom for news. But I need to see more than I've seen before I believe that EOM and Daleel are anything other than computer nerds playing mind games with the gullible.

EOM and Daleel and their friends are probably not 'real terrorists' but they do seem to know that something big is up.
They are probably not in the chain of command nor real operatives, but rather Islamist 'good ol boys' who hear the whispered plans of al Qaeda from clerics and couriers.
They probably don't have exact, specific information. However I guarantee you they know more about what is coming than we do, and I for one think it's no joke and no empty threat. There are probably millions of wannabe jihadis who know what EOM and Daleel know. And they are all waiting expectantly for the big hit, which is PROMISED, not hinted at, by Osama and Ayman, very soon.
Man I hope they muck it up and we stop their plans!
