nwagranny thank you so much for your words of wisdom. I am fortunate in that my husband and I think alike when it comes to preparations. We have enough food to last 2 years, raise our own beef and chickens, etc.

If I may throw in my 2 cents. The #1 thing I would recommend is to move away from a large city. I know that is easier said than done, but, I had to say it :-). Ignore friends/family that think you are nuts. Just tell them this is your new hobby and spending $ on a good supply of food is better than "spending it at the pool hall". If you can afford to stock up enough for them as well do it. As Granny said, if it comes down to it, they will end up at your house since you are prepared. Stock up on water but rotate it as after about 1 year it will taste like the plastic jug it is stored in. Won't hurt you, will just taste funny. Pick up some water purification tablets at the sporting goods store, just in case.

For storing your bulk dry goods (beans, rice, flour, etc.) use food grade tubs, otherwise again, the food over time will have a plastic taste. Here is a good source for getting food grade containers: containers

Get a supply of potassium iodide: potassium-iodide and if it gives you peace of mind get some antibiotics (we got some online a couple of years ago) and keep it in the fridge. Stock up on all your first aid supplies. Can never have too much Hydrogen Peroxide. It's good for tons of things.

Remember, if things get really bad, you'll wants guns and lots of ammo.

Battery powered radio. Batteries keep longer in the freezer so stock up. If you have a smoker, smoke lots of meat (salmon, chicken, turkey) then seal-a-meal it. Tastes great and keeps a long time.

Thanks, I was looking for info on that globe came across some photos that I had not seen before of the jumpers. It looked like one fellow was already on fire. I looked at them not because of any horror film mentality, but to have a visual reminder of the devastation of that day. Next time, I am in NYC I will go to Battery Park

Note that no-one here (or anywhere else) disputed the fact it was IN that paper..instead, many blasted Debka. But NO-ONE in the USG, FR, or any major news agency argued the fact that the article [saying al-Qaeda threatens to destroy NYC within 35 days, apparently in some form of nuclear blast] WAS published on the front page of what is apparently Italy's main paper.

OK, I'll dispute, or at least ask questions:

What is the evidence that this is a newspaper of major significance? I would think that Rome's biggest paper would be the main one. Is this even the main newspaper of Milan?

I can't find the article, or even a site for the paper, anywhere on the web. I'd like to see the original. Can anyone else help here?

19 Bam pilgrims out of Hajj rituals

Tehran, Jan 8 - The representative of Iran's Supreme Leader to the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Mohammadi Rey Shahri stressed here Thursday that Iranian hajj pilgrims should act as true representatives of Islamic Iran and convery the message of compassion and affection.

He made the remark in a ceremony held at Mehrabad international airport in Tehran to see the first group of Iranian hajj pilgrims off for the hajj ritual.

The ceremony was also attended by the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Tehran for the first time ever.

The official, who is also in charge of the affairs of Tranian pilgrims during the hajj ritual, invited all Iranian pilgrims to unity and asked them to be vigilant while demonstrating the cultural richness of Islamic Iran through deeds and words during the hajj season.

He further stressed that the Islamic world today was in dire need of solidarity and unity and maintained that Islamic countries including Iran and Saudi Arabia could take major steps towards settling the problems of Muslims throughout the world.

Pointing to the disastrous earthquake in the city of Bam, he said 19 people from Bam who had applied for the hajj pilgrimage lost their lives in the quake while a number of the surviving applicants will join the pilgrims this year.

Some 96,000 Iranian pilgrims are to be flown to Saudi Arabia in 17 days by Iranian and Saudi airlines.

imho... "travels" can refer to a martyrdom operation, I have seen beaucoup references to this in the past 12 hours. The hajj to Mecca is fully underway. Others are travelling in the opposite driection. The time line (48-60 hours) suggests he will arrive in the "safe and secure locations" (plural?) which suggests the event he refers to will occur between 10 am and 10 PM on Saturday 10 January. I see an immediate threat to the Saudi Arabian government!!! THEY SHOULD DECLARE A CODE RED ALERT NOW FOR THE ENTIRE KINGDOM!!! An Islamic coup d'etat appears to be imminent in that country. I believe operations against the US are going to be concurrent with the Saudi Ops.

I also think there was more to this crash. The fact that Tony Blair & his family were staying in the same town as where the flight originated is entirely too coincidental. I think Blair is just as big a target as GWB.

IF this was intended to target Blair &/or Mubarek (and I admit that's a mighty big "IF") then I think someone interfered (ala Flight 93 crashing in PA).

The Egyptian gov't. knows something, but they're not telling.
