"I just want to know that my emails are secure from tampering."

If for any reason you come to the attention of some bright hackers, whether by accident or because they are hired by somebody opposing you in a legal venue...you are not going to be safe from tampering. Even PGP which is pretty darn good, can be hacked by somebody really good at the game. Although I have heard that the only folks that can bust it are No Such Agency; I don't really believe that one. I say for really secure communication use a courier. Are you really paranoid now? Sorry, I don't mean to make you just like me. LOL

I wish you hadn't "said" that about getting some unwanted attention.....hummmm.......I was just starting to feel alittle better about securing my email. I was already PARANOID to start.....conspiracy theorist at heart....that's me......but I give it all to God to handle......that's the only way I can live my life.

As a practical matter it's impossible to decrypt a file or message encrypted using PGP without the intended recipient's key file and password. It is possible to steal those items if improperly secured (keylogging will get you there), or to directly view and record the content by stationing one's self near the receiving terminal and intercepting stray RF signals from the user's monitor, all using technology that exists for those purposes, but that is hardly "hacking" PGP.

I believe what Phil Z. has written on this subject, as well as what I've been personally told by a person I know who was (is?) working for that agency you mentioned.
