OS X is not Linux. It is an advanced user interface sitting on top of BSD Unix. You may be able to recompile GIMP for it though, I'm not sure.

I was sort of comparing all 3 of the O/S's....

Better download a patch.

(ducking)

Thanks for the advice. Marine Aquarium 2.0 has upgraded their software to 2.06 and the bubble problem has gone away.

Sorry, just used to so many people who don't know the difference. I even work with people who can't understand the concept of a computer working if it didn't have Windows on it.

some people are misinformed, and some don't care to become informed. Just try explaining to someone why a Windows game won't work on Linux...

Although Linux is making strides, I see them on laptops and with CD-R's now on the Linux websites... they are moving up.

Good question... for some reason Apple started code naming their new releases after big cats... OS X.2 was "Jaguar" and the box and CD featured a Jaguar skin printed X... Panther has a black box and black CDs.

Obviously the next upgrade needs to be "Sabertooth"!

Glad you like your new system.
I am still using Jaguar.

Apple charges US$129 for security fix:
U.S. based Internet security research company @Stake has warned of newly discovered vulnerabilities affecting the Mac OS X operating system. The company released three advisories this morning. The first details "systemic" flaws in the way OS X handles file and directory permissions, while the second details a kernel level vulnerability that does not affect default installations of the operating system. The third involves a buffer overflow condition that may be remotely exploitable.

Controversially, Apple has not yet released patches for the security issues. @Stake has advised Mac users to upgrade to the latest Apple operating system, which is not vulnerable to the flaws. The operating system, OS X 10.3, or Panther, is priced at US$129.
