In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
vitiate \VIH-shee-ayt\ verb
1. to make faulty or defective; impair
2. to debase in moral or aesthetic status
3. to make ineffective *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence: Critics asserted that studies claiming to prove the product safe were vitiated by lack of objectivity on the part of company- hired scientists.
Did you know?
Here's one for word puzzle lovers -- and anyone else allured by alliteration. The sentence "Vivian vituperated the vicious villain for valuing vice over virtue" contains three words that derive from the same Latin root as "vitiate." Can you identify all three? If you picked "vituperate" (a verb meaning "to scold"), "vicious," and "vice," your puzzle prowess is beyond reproach. Like "vitiate," all three descend from the Latin noun "vitium," meaning "fault" or "vice."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

OJ was innocent. The killer was a golfer and OJ has been looking for him ever since.

Oh jeez - you're being kind. If by 'private,' you meant 'lazy' - you'd be right. Hell, how embarrassing is this - the kid's been announced on the board at the corner bar since the day she was born - and two weeks later me and the Mrs. are still dinking around with printing our announcements (while I learn how the digital cam works).
To: Hegewisch Dupa
Well It will still be another week or two before I have Flurrette's Mrs Mc's wedding pics.

I'll admit the master plan to create live-in MILF has had unforeseen and time-consuming consequences. But I'll send stuff as available.

I am back at work. GOing fine for me - it's harder on Mrs Dupa - I don't know how long she can operate on adreniline. But we are learning how to deal with evenings better. The kid's healthy - we really have nothing out of the ordinary to complain about.
To: Hegewisch Dupa

sounds familiar. no matter how inept and ridiculous you think you are being with a new baby, as first time parents, realize that someone else was being equally idiotic before you : ) i remember thinking that xsteen's baby noises sounded like an ANIMAL, when we had the basinette in our room. i was sure there was something wrong with her....

I'm not touching it. The plan is to remove a spindle(to get the proper angle) and just start over. And use lots of wood putty to cover the damage. It looks pretty nasty, doesn't it?
