In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
conniption \con*nip*shun\, noun:
1. A fit of violent emotion, such as anger or panic. Also called conniption fit.
One can but hope that the trend in California sweeps the nation and we see a decisive victory in the 2004 elections. With that, it is a fervent desire that we see the DNC rolling in a conniption fit the likes of which we have never seen before. Besides being somewhat triumphant, it would be purely amusing. --RikaStrom WFTD Teacher.

Yeah, I think he's the 2nd best daddy on our street, and that is making a world of difference in their child vs all the others little urchins around here.

And it will continue to as well. He is a protector, you'll never see Josie in the middle of the street at 2 yrs while he is TV bound.

Goodness no! And speaking of that, she will be 2 next month...she's 2 weeks younger than our dear LulaBelle.

I need your advice. We are trying to secure a loose bannister at the top of the stairs that had a gap between it and the other railing. After digging out the wood putty we found out why it was loose. NO screw holding it to the other piece! So it was off to Depot. But now there's another problem. While trying to place the new screw the drill stripped the head(insert profanity here) and it drove in at a crooked angle because it was impossible to set the drill straight with the spindles in the way so help! Is there any way to get that screw out and put another in without having to call a carpenter. Also, did I mention the profanity? Not good since the kids are around. :(
Right now I hear a lot of hammering and grumbling.

Update on the railing. It has now descended into getting out the Dremel to get enough space around the screw for the vise grips to fit and yank gently remove.

Get a screw extractor set (from Sears or back at Home Depot).
If you know the size of the stripped screw, you only need that single extractor.
You'll end up "screwing" the extractor into the exposed surface (screwing it in counterclockwise...) After a little bit, the extractor will begin "biting" into the metal and then turning the stripped screw backwards.
Take it slow and accurately.
---
Once you get the mis-directed screw out, put some wood glue (or "guerilla glue" - it expands a bit and holds real good!) and a dowel/toothpick/wood pencil (what ever the right size is to fit firmly but not too tight!) into the miss-drilled hole.
This fills the hole, and lets you re-drill it when the glue is dry (if guerilla glue) Wood glue you can pretty much re-drill immediately. Then you can replace the screw.
Close fit? There are (modestly inexpensive) right-angle attachments for the common 3/8 drills (again at Sears or home Depot) that let you fit into that kind of space.
For bannisters, are you sure you want to use a screw (lag bolt?) .... are you attaching the small clamp that holds the banister out from the wall? I'd recommedn at least a Nbr 10 x 1-1/2 screw for strength.
Tex? Your opinion?

Careful on the "yanking" -- you do want your bannister to be pretty and paintable (or varnishable) after removal.

Weeeeeeeelllllllll,
I suppose ....
.... as long as the recipe doesn't require any more than three ingredients, or two utensils.
Or involve washing clothes.
