Roger Marshall on Tight KS Senate Race: 'It's the Price of Gasoline — It's That Simple'
Breitbart ^ | 21 Oct 2026 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 10/21/2026 1:52:46 PM PDT by MinorityRepublican

During an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Big Money,” Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) weighed in on his contest against Kansas Democrat nominee Adam Hamilton.

Latest polls show a single-digit contest between Marshall and Hamilton.

According to incumbent Marshall, gas prices are keeping the race close.

“Why then is this Senate race as close as it is, Senator?” FBN host Taylor Riggs asked.

Marshall replied, “Well, no, I think it’s the price of gasoline. It’s that simple, and I’m not sure it’s as close as what the national polls are showing. Six years ago, I was an open seat. The poll showed the same thing, and we won by 11 points. Now, I don’t think we’re going to win by 11 points right now. The national media, the legacy media has just beat the heck out of President Trump now for, what, 10 years, and despite what’s really a pretty strong economy here in Kansas, the legacy media is just telling you the sky is falling.”

Months ago an angry Glenn Beck said: “So the voters’ determination to save our nation from a socialist takeover ends when they get close enough to read the number on the gas pump?” (paraphrased). ⛽

The most shallow reason ever.

The price of gas will go down in the near future. That seems obvious. And so much of the rest of the economy is doing very well. Gas price is an easy number for lame brains to hang on to but it’s not as important as people pretend.

This is why I have never agreed with those that have said the general population “is smart enough to figure it out”. Any sane person who has paid even a modicum of attention to the Demonic Party and their socialist DSAsshole offshoot, should know that the price of gas will skyrocket in the name of saving Mother Erf and everything the have done for the last one hundred years has only made things worse for them. Simpleton retards...

Headline on Newmax.com says more oil is coming through the Strait of Hell than BEFORE the damned war started. We can thank America’s Big Oil companies for gouging us to death!!! If that much oil is coming through, why the high prices? I thought Trump said about five or six times that when the war is over, prices will come down rapidly!! We have not been in combat operations for a couple of months; oil is coming through, so what gives?

On October 8, 2020, the Sunflower State Journal published a poll showing Democrat Barbara Bollier leading Roger Marshall for the open senate seat by 3.5 points.

New poll shows Bollier with narrow lead in U.S. Senate race

You can read about the internals of that poll here:

Bollier has Edge in KS Senate Election

Other media polls throughout October showed the race to be very close, with neither candidate leading outside the margin of error (if you don't believe me, Google it yourself)

On election night, when the only poll that matters was taken, Marshall trounced Bollier by 11 points. None of the media polls were even close.

Don't be surprised if we see a repeat performance in 2026.

Trump is coming back to Texas again to campaign for Paxton which means things aren’t looking good for Republicans. It has been 38 years since a Democrat was elected to the Senate.

They won’t - obviously.

Nobody wants to hear it, I know - and late October is a really stupid and awful time to make the point...

But there’s a lot of “reap what you sow” happening.

Folks can hate on me all you want, but the big problem nowadays is forcing a choice between “Mommy Government” and “Daddy Government”.

Once upon a time? Real conservatism meant NEITHER.

Government is the cause - not the solution. I believe in individual responsibility and the basic idea that our Republic exists to provide a backdrop for individuals to succeed (and fail) on their own ambition, sweat, and merits.

Sow the wind (government can fix it!); reap the whirlwind (you better fix it!).

This is where we are now and it’s why I hate “populism” (or slopulism). The leftists have been selling it for longer than I’ve been alive. Winning a couple a elections by rebranding it as ‘conservative’?

Voting Republican is still the least bad option. But Republicans need to get back to a truly conservative anchor: Get out of the way, stop promising ponies to everyone, and emphasize free enterprise and individual responsibility.

The consequences of the Iran War blunder is going to reverberate for years. The GOP was always going to lose this year to some extent, it's a second term midterm after all (see: Bush in 2006 and Obama in 2014), but there is a direct correlation between Trump's plummeting approval and gas prices, and it's probably why the GOP will end up losing Senate races in places such as Texas and Ohio, and who knows where else. The Senate goes, then what happens if Alito retires (as is being speculated) and/or Thomas dies?

Trump gave his State of the Union this year boasting about how low the gas prices were and then quite literally blew them up less than a week thereafter. I doubt he or anyone in his administration thought in February this nonsense would still be going in October. Huge miscalculation.

Was it the same when gas prices were even higher under Biden (and for no reason)?

You’d think the lefties would be glad to see higher gas prices. For the sake of the planet.

So leaving the Death to America bunch with nukes is better? What do you think gas prices will do if Iran announces it has the bomb? Or uses it?

Breaking: Rural Republicans Are Turning Out In Force In Texas

With all attention on big urban areas, people are missing that rural counties are turning out in unprecedented numbers in early voting. This is after 1 day of EV

🔴 Callahan (Trump +78) 16% of 2024 turnout already!

🔴 Jeff Davis (Trump +22) 16%

🔴 Armstrong (Trump +86!) 14%

🔴 Sutton (Trump +70) 11%

🔴 Childress (Trump +76) 10%

🔴 Wheeler (Trump +85) 10%

🔴 Hall (Trump +73) 9%

This is where republicans win elections, huge margins in small counties and with turnout on track to match close to the last presidential election this is huge for the Senate and governor elections.. and this is just after one day of data.— Election2026 Updates (@MadAboutSkin01) October 21, 2026

They were high in 2022 because Russia and Ukraine. The American people didn’t pin the blame on the president for that.

Everyone in 2026 knows why the gas prices are high (Iran War) and whose direct policy that was.

If you still believe the mission was necessary, that’s fine, whatever. I’m just saying there’s going to be a political price for it, to be paid in less than two weeks.
