Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) tussled with former Special Counsel Jack Smith during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, accusing the top Trump target of making him want to “throw up.”
Kennedy asked during his questioning, “You sought the phone records of a bunch of U.S. Senators, right?”
Smith replied, “We sought the toll records, non-content records.”
Kennedy shot back, “Any Democrats or just Republicans?”
Smith replied, “If President Trump had reached out to Democrats to further his—”
Kennedy cut in, “Yeah, but I’m just trying to get the facts. Were there any Democrats whose phone records you sought? Just Republicans, right?”
Smith replied, “The toll, the toll records that we saw were relevant to the investigation. And they were Republicans.”
Kennedy hit back, “I’m asking. You’ve stalled me again, counselor, you know that. You saw just the records of the Republicans. And you knew that violated the Speech and Debate Clause. Didn’t you?”
Smith hit back, “That is incorrect. We sought to comply with that—”
Kennedy asked, “Did you take Con-Law?”
Smith asked for clarification, “I’m sorry, Senator.”
Kennedy quipped, “Were you in the quad playing Frisbee during Con Law at Harvard Law School?”
Smith answered, “I did take constitutional law.”
Kennedy continued, “Well, then you had to know it violated the Speech and Debate Clause. In fact, when you went to Judge Boasberg, you didn’t even tell him you were seeking the phone records of members of Congress, did you? Because you knew he wouldn’t agree. He would say, ‘Hey, counselor, anybody who knows a law book from a J.Crew catalog knows that this violates the Constitution.’ But you didn’t tell him, did you?”
Smith replied, “We sought non-disclosure orders from—”
Kennedy insisted, “You didn’t tell him, did you?”
Smith replied, “In seeking non-disclosure orders, we did not disclose.”
Kennedy then jabbed Smith, “You didn’t tell him, but you’re unbiased, you have no personal feelings. You make me want to throw up in my mouth.”
Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) then jumped in and scolded Kennedy, “Mr. Chairman. Mr. Chairman. I’d like to say a word. This hearing is of constitutional and historic importance. This witness should be allowed to answer the questions, to complete a sentence. We have given that courtesy to witnesses from both political parties, and it should be extended to Mr. Smith.”
Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) added, “Your time is up, Senator. Thank you.”
Kennedy defended himself, “I’d also like, with respect, Dick, for the chairman to instruct the witness. He’s not Bambi’s baby brother, okay? He’s been around. Everybody knows him. And he was famous, or infamous even, before he was hired to prosecute President Trump. And I’d like you to instruct him not to filibuster us.”

Bias. Kennedy wiped the floor with General Zod
Kennedy asked, “Did you take Con-Law?”

Kennedy quipped, “Were you in the quad playing Frisbee during Con Law at Harvard Law School?” Kennedy has got a wit about him.
So? He got “a scolding” from an Democrat NPC. At least the Democrat didn’t shoot him, which is more that party’s style.
Sick Durbin scolded someone? Is that the point they are making? I love how Durbin tries to get the light off smith.

Pure "yawn" junk, IMHO...
You can always count on Sen. Kennedy to do a great job with his questioning, especially against a clown like Smith. Smith needs to be whipped like a rented mule with Kennedy handling the whip.
