On the cover of its latest edition, The Economist promises to uncover “the truth and the lies” about “Islam in Europe.” The story it presents is, for the magazine’s readership, a reassuring one: a crisis of two extreme fringes fighting across a sensible middle. But this is a false framing that betrays the complexity of Islam in Europe it promises to untangle, just when honest understanding is urgently needed. Allow me to explain why.
The editors offer a soothing symmetry: on one side, a small minority of Islamist extremists; on the other, a small minority of far-right extremists. “Islam poses no serious danger,” declares the accompanying editorial. “But Islamism and the fear of Islam do.” Both are dangerous. Both must be resisted. In this formulation, the vast majority of Muslims and the vast majority of native Europeans are peaceable people caught between two fringes. The task of the responsible commentator is to condemn both fringes with equal force, while warning against the temptation to blame whole communities for the actions of its extremists. This is presented as the fair, balanced, and non-paranoid position, making The Economist the sober grown-up in the room who refuses to be drawn into the ugliness of either side.
Unfortunately, that symmetry does not reflect reality, and by insisting on it, The Economist puts its elite readers in a box and discourages them from looking beyond it....

As another Freeper mentioned, “The jihadist holds the knife. The moderate Muslim holds the camera.”
I worked with a happy, pleasant seeming Muslim. But I listened to what he said. He had plans to take all of his neighbor’s homes when “we take over.” He once yelled at me, “You won’t like it when we take over. You’ll be my slave. You’ll pay me taxes.” He’d been here from is late teens and was in his forties with plans for fifteen children. Why? “Because we need soldiers for the jihad.” He was quite honest about his plans. Probably because we, as non-Muslims, were irrelevant. Just by his being here, he had already won a battle against us.
1400 years of history and contemporary headlines say different.
If Islam is no problem, why must Muslims come to Christian countries seeking “asylum” from other Muslims?

Go to any African country north of the Equator and see how islam can change a people and culture once muslims get control of the gov’t. Abysmal poverty and death. Muslims have killed over one million people in Africa all in the name of Allah.

He was a citizen. As a citizen, you’re allowed to say anything you want. He had seven brothers he brought over and put in the citizen queue. Each one planned to max out on children. They were sleeping in shifts in a 1100 sq ft house. The cars were parked like a Japanese puzzle in the front yard and on the street. Parodically they’d sacrifice a goat to Allah. The neighbors would call the cops, as this was noisy and done in the back yard. The deputies would show up...blood everywhere and ask what was going on. Sacrificing a goat to Allah. “Have a nice day.”

I’m afraid that there’s going to have to be civil war to stop this. This was all thirty years ago. Between him and the brother’s I’d guess they had thirty children living in that tiny house. And as I mentioned, he viewed the situation as if they had already won. He told me, “You people just have one or two kids. We are growing an army.” It was all said with a smile and everyone else viewed it as a joke. I didn’t. I could tell he was serious.
And if it gets down to a war, he may be right. On the good side. As the children were reaching teenage, they started getting into trouble with the law. I don’t think they were seeing the world in the same way he was. But he was busy marrying them off to girls from back home...twelve-year-olds.
