Regardless, the point is that just as we need people to protect us from the people trying to protect us from Climate Change and Covid, we now need someone to protect us from the people trying to protect us from AI.
Trump himself in the article compares the AI danger hoax to the climate change hoax.
I understand why these various AI CEOs are calling their own product a threat to humanity - they want regulatory capture. They want the government to create barriers to entry for new AI players. Musk a year or two did it in an attempt to slow down the models that were better than his a year ago so he could catch up. They want a corporate AI oligopoly of X, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google and the way to do that is to create the fear needed to create government regulations.

We are all going to die, that’s a fact. Your also going to pay taxes along the way. The way things are going, with the taxes, you may want to be dead to avoid them soon.
I would love if i was 100% wrong. It would mean that all the deep dives with AI scientists talking about what they personally witnessed was all BS. I would love to be made fun of and called a dupe and mark for falling for the “AI will be the death of us” argument.
But i have gone really deep into AI. We are so far down that road that all of this, this argument whether we should or shouldn’t reel this back, its all too late. There is no going back. Everything going on now is just bread and circuses. It’s a way for people to think they still have some control over what is going on. Sorry people, i know im not wrong and it really really sucks.
