Joe diGenova, the 81-year-old Trump loyalist who had headed a sprawling investigation in the Southern District of Florida that targeted President Donald Trump’s perceived political enemies, has resigned from the Justice Department.
“It was an honor and a privilege to serve the president and the department,” diGenova said Thursday.
Asked why he is leaving, diGenova declined to comment.
“I’m moving on,” he said.
ABC News first reported diGenova’s departure.
While diGenova resigned from the Justice Department and was not fired, a source familiar with the determination told NBC News that Justice Department officials had already lost confidence in his leadership skills and his ability to run the investigation.
Justice Department leadership felt the investigation was not moving quickly enough, even though diGenova was provided with a team of Justice Department lawyers from Washington, according to the source familiar with the determination, who said the hope is the probe can get back on track with those attorneys at the helm.

I’m shocked to hear this. He was working on the conspiracy case in Fla. That is what the administration was pinning all hopes on to get the Deep State. I hope this wasn’t a Deep State firing to sabatoge the case.
He was getting no cooperation from the DOJ regarding his requests for certain files and documents, this is fact. As well, I surmise that Bruno from the deep state told him he is wasting his time trying to garner any evidence that would be in Trump’s favor.
81 years old? Doesn’t sound like the kind of guy who will lead the charge on anything substantial.
