Washington Post Ratioed for Not Revealing Type of 'Modern' Cars Bursting Into Flames
Newsbusters ^ | August 18, 2026 | P.J. Gladnick

We see what you did there, Mr. Todd C. Frankel. The reporter for the Washington Post, whose motto is "Democracy Dies In The Darkness," went absurdly opaque on Monday as to shedding light as to what type of "modern" cars have gone incendiary in "They were told to park outside. Then their cars burst into flames."

The subtitle does narrow it down to "modern" cars without any more specificity: "Modern vehicles don’t need to be moving — or even turned on — to catch fire. That’s fueling lots of safety recalls and tough choices."

The first couple of paragraphs come as close as Frankel dares to specifying what type of cars are spontaneously bursting into flames. Unfortunately, as you can read in the rest of his story, he conflated all "modern" cars with the ones that, as we shall see, his own readers know are the culprits:

The WaPo reporter just couldn't reveal that traditional internal combustion engine cars are least likely to spontaneously burst into flames.

Nor would they disclose how hard EV fires are to extinguish.

“Advocacy Journalism”, which rose in the 1960s was the end of real journalism.

Here is the first sentence in the WaPo article.

“Late last year, when Sarah Lammersen learned her 2022 Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid was being recalled because the high-voltage battery could catch fire at any time — even when the vehicle was parked — she jokingly texted the dealership, “I hope the car doesn’t catch on fire while we wait to schedule an appointment.””

I think it's funny that back in the 20s when people were first buying cars in numbers, they were kept in a garage as far from the house as practical because of perceived risk of fire and of course, they were used to barns for their prior means of transportation.

Now you buy the government approved EV and they tell you to park in the middle of nowhere with nothing around you because they might spontaneously combust. We've gone 100 years back!

Not new. I remember way back when we would tie our horses to the hitching post outside the saloon and our horses would occasionally spontaneously combust!

“Advocacy Journalism”, which rose in the 1960s was the end of real journalism.

It started in 1963 when Dan Rather "reported" emphatically that the Zapruder film showed Kennedy's head lurching forward when in actual fact just the opposite happened.

Global Warming is so hot, cars, forests, and home spontaneously erupt into flames.

It’s “lit match” temperatures, everywhere!

There are several companies in Chicago who will tear down the one bay carriage shed in the back yard and replace it with a two car garage. That is their entire business model.
They take ALL the scraps with them too. Nothing for the home owner to clean up after.

Anyone who is dumb enough to buy a Jeep Plug in Hybrid should suffer the consequences.

IF I was going to buy a hybrid or plug in hybrid the ONLY name it would have on it would be TOYOTA.

“the Washington Post, whose motto is “Democracy Dies In The Darkness”

Meanwhile, the washington post has spent decades keeping its readers in the dark about any and all democrat malfeasances, such as Bidens cognitive decline and who was really running the government.

It started in 1963 when Dan Rather "reported" emphatically that the Zapruder film showed Kennedy's head lurching forward when in actual fact just the opposite happened.

I find it particularly damning that the one thing that everyone - everyone - look at and says 'wow, how did that happen if the shooter is behind him' is something Rather specifically called out to lie about. They all knew it was inexplicable, so they got a puppet to 'reassure' America that all was super simple and as you'd expect. Rather played the stooge really well.

But this was definitely not the first. Walter Duranty got a pulitzer for reporting glowing things through the '30s about the glorious Soviet Union without mentioning the gulags, show trials, or - you know - the forced starvation of entire populations, in fact he insisted it was all fake news. Nothing would be reported that would hurt the cause of global communism if people knew.

Had to look “ratioed” up for this context. There isn’t much left of the English language now that instant communications is widely available.
