Research done at the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) and published in July of 2026 shows the percentage and number of people carrying concealed handguns continues to increase.

A survey of 1000 people conducted by McLaughlin  & Associates on July 22, 2026 shows significant increases in the carrying of concealed handguns. In the last 19 months, from December of 2024 to July of 2026, the percentage of likely voters who carried all or most of the time increased from 13% to 15.7%, an increase of 2.7% of the sample. Those who carry sometimes/rarely increased from 11% to 15.2% or 4.2% of the sample.

The total who carry increased from 24% in 2024 to 30.9% in 2026, or 6.6% of the sample.

Similarly, the total of those who say they never carry dropped from 73% to 66.6%, a 6.4% drop. Those who claim they “don’t know” if they carry increased from 2% to 2.5%. The sample is of likely voters in general elections.  Such a sample may or may not be indicative of the habits of non-voters.

They forgot to ask how often do you lie on surveys about carrying handguns?

I don’t believe these numbers. They are too high.

Just make sure to check your state (and local) laws before voting. Most states prohibit concealed carry at polling locations. I leave mine in my vehicle and am very careful not to forget. My town just got a metal detector to place at the doorway for city council meetings after a leftist council member started making threats after “Puerto Rican Day” got voted down as a proposed town holiday. I would not be surprised to see that metal detector at the door of the city voting location.

it may be illegal, but i’d rather have one that if needed saved my life even though i’d get charged with illegal concealed carry.

think your life would be worth it?

I am surprised that so many identifying as “very liberal” carry. About 10% higher than those who identify as “very conservative”. The very liberal people I have known were, as a group, the most emotionally unstable.

Unless it’s got metal detectors I’m carrying.

Period.

There is a significant number of “shy” gun owners who guard their privacy.

That number would be much, much higher if Democrat controlled states such as California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, and Massachusetts had their unconstitutional anti-2nd amendment laws thrown out.

The group that scares me the most is the "Don't Know" crew.

I can see always, never or sometimes, but don't know?

Correct. About half the country is still governed by scofflaw states which refuse to follow the Supreme Court on the Second Amendment.

Several states in Eastern Europe have greater percentages of people with concealed carry permits than exist in California, New York, New Jersey, Hawaii.

I put them in with the “shy” gun owners who don’t want anyone to know. It is an answer to give instead of no answer.
