Royal Navy’s new fleet of spy drones have been secretly transmitting information from the drone’s primary camera to China

The UK Ministry of Defense has discovered that the Royal Navy’s new fleet of spy drones, being operated by elements of the Royal Marines since March, have been secretly transmitting information from the drone’s primary camera to China, according to an investigation from The Telegraph.

Components of the camera on the K3 Scout, a 27-foot-long multirole uncrewed surface vessel (drone boat) built by Kraken Technology in the United Kingdom, were produced in and secretly transmitting data to a device in China. An investigation into the drones revealed that the cameras were transmitting “heartbeat communications” – data to confirm they were online and functioning normally – to an IP address in China.

The Chinese have learned they can hide spy devices inside otherwise normal microelectronics. You can’t see them, you can’t detect them, but they are there. A common, ordinary IC that’s used in digital circuitry all over the world can have a secret spy device hidden inside it and nobody would know any different...................

So, further confirmation that the Special Relationship between the United States and Great Britain continues being shoved down the garbage disposal of diplomacy.

On a related note:

Fun fact: Some electrical components of American voting machines are manufactured in Communist China.

Are we a stupid country, or what?

If only there was a way to not have to rely on foreign countries for your high tech weapon components.

That’s one reason why I’m appalled that our new Air Force One comes to us via Qatar. Smarter people than I have thoroughly swept the plane. There is nothing to be concerned about.

Or so I’m told.

I am surprised that there aren’t at least a dozen Algerian refugees clinging to it.

I have seen the locked-down code from China in Android derivatives. It has Chinese IP addresses embedded in it.

I was appalled to read on-line that USB Power Delivery devices need the USB data-lines, now and have embedded re-programmable code in them.

We are heading for interesting times, I think.

People do not realize the impact of these devices. They can be smaller than a literal pinhead and tucked inside a normal IC that does it’s job in a normal manner until it receives a command form outside. A WiFi, Bluetooth or Virtual Network can be transmitting your financial and other personal data to whoever in a matter of seconds and you’d never know. Or national top secret data.....................

And California has passed a law prohibiting the counting of ballots by hand. Counting by hand is a threat to Our Democracy™.
