SpaceX Posts Huge Starship Reveal! Flight 14 Launch Window! [22:42]
YouTube ^ | August 7, 2026 | What about it!?

Posted on 08/08/2026 5:10:23 AM PDT by SunkenCiv

On Tuesday morning, we published an episode arguing that Starship's heat shield doesn't need to be perfect. It needs to be serviceable. On Tuesday afternoon, on SpaceX's very first earnings call as a public company, Elon Musk went further than we ever dared. Quote: "I'd consider the heat shield problem solved at this point."

And that was just one hour of this call. A ship catch attempt at the end of this month. Operational Starlink V3 satellites on Flight 14. One Starship launch per day within a year. Boots on the Moon in 2028. All of it on the record, to investors, with lawyers listening.

Today we take that hour apart, piece by piece.

1 a day? Ambitious, but probably not doable. But he’s proved me wrong before. And the Falcon9 launches have become so routine they’re like buses- wait a little bit and another will be along shortly.

Thanks all.

The early constraint on daily launch cadence will be the number of available vehicles. The methane delivery system is said to be getting an upgrade to obviate the need for trucks (basically, a pipeline will replace the trucks).

There will be a second launchpad at the Texas site, soon.

The pad at 39A will be completed, soon, and two more are in the works for 37 (all this at Canaveral).

The third planned launch complex is going into Louisiana.

There was talk about expansion at Vandenberg, but the only think Calipornia has going for it is geographical location.

Australia might make a good southern hemisphere launch location, but perhaps that also has only a geographic advantage.

I predict Elon Musk will be the first human to own private property on the Moon . Not bad for an African American!

My pleasure. He’s really built an audience, and he’s really improved his vids in the past year or so.

Breaking news today is that SpaceX's Starship Recovery Isn't Going to Plan. SpaceX is attempting something we've never seen before as teams work to recover Starship Ship 40 from the Indian Ocean following its successful Flight 13 splashdown. But increasingly rough seas are making the long journey to Western Australia far from straightforward. Meanwhile, Starship Flight 14 preparations are accelerating. We also dive into SpaceX's enormous new Terafab plans, the Falcon 9 second stage impacted the Moon, we have NASA's latest Moon base plans, Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander and BE-4 investigation update, Firefly's Blue Ghost 2, Astrobotic Griffin-1, Relativity Space's Terran R, Rocket Lab Neutron and Electron, and much more spaceflight news!

Hey SunkenCiv, when I was in business a few years ago, I followed the telecom industry as an independent analyst.  One area I followed was the market for international wholesale: basically the trading of internet traffic via the thousands of data centers and global connection points.

The truth is: 99% of international traffic travels via undersea internet cables.  But that fact is misleading.  When I click a weblink on my laptop here in Japan, even though the source website files are physically located in the American network, the Japanese operator who gives me my internet/WiFi wants to pull data from a local (in Japan) data center who aggregates USA traffic in high demand.

The more I hear about Musk/SpaceX putting big numbers of low-earth internet satellites in the skies, the more leverage Musk/X/SpaceX gains as he negotiates with the big terrestrial data centers who control and profit from the internet traffic of the world.

And another exciting thing about this: Musk's extra-global network allows him to leapfrog networks that block the truth and thereby SpaceX can supply the world with voices and intelligence that Fake News (and their data center partners) block because they don't want the world to read it's truth.

Sure glad Elon Musk is on our side!
