The NYC chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America bashed the US Constitution as “a rationalization of a pirate kingdom” at a twisted workshop last week where it brainstormed ways to abolish the foundational backbone of the country.
The “How to Write a Constitution” workshop — led by a Los Angeles-born radical author who spent his early childhood in Kenya and whose middle name is Fidel — is part of nationwide leftist effort to abolish the US Senate, Supreme Court, Electoral College and presidency.
“The US constitution is pushing toward a system that looks more and more authoritarian and is not compatible with some vision of Democratic change,” Boston College Law Professor Aziz Rana told the assembled crowd of about 25 people at the DSA’s Lower East Side headquarters, whose red walls are plastered with pictures of the more famous Fidel.
“There’s a deep undemocratic element to it,” he said, claiming that it “empowers the state to engage in various forms of violence.”
“It might establish rights, but the rights are oftentimes going to be the rights of property holders,” he said.
Rana is regularly invited to speak or be interviewed at the organization’s array of events around the country. His 2024 book, “The Constitutional Bind: How Americans Came to Idolize a Document that Fails Them,” has been called by the DSA “a blueprint for the left to return to agitating.”
Like “nepo baby” Mayor Zohran Mamdani who hails from a wealthy family, true to champagne socialist fashion, Rana lives with his wife, Odette Lienau, the dean of BC’s law school, in a $3.4 million Brookline, Mass. mansion.

Back around 1969 Esquire Magazine had an article on replacing the Constitution with a new one.
Two things I remember is there was no longer a President of the USA. It was replaced with “Mr Chairman.”
Also no 2nd Amendment.
And at what point are those among us sworn to defend the Constitution against “all enemies, foreign and domestic” get called to action?

The very foundation of socialism is government violence.
Remove the limits on expanding the number of representatives in the US House - perhaps 100,000 per representative (prior to amendment it was 30,000/rep - currently at 760,000/rep) this would eliminate gerrymandering at the most grotesque levels; a result of the Voting Rights Act of 1964 Tell them this is a gradual move to a more direct democracy that undermines the current power structure (Don't tell them it is how the original US Consitution ordered it).
Do you trust your state representatives?
The same constitution that guarantees them to be able to do what they are doing? Without which they would be in a remote gulag somewhere for doing what they are doing. THAT constitution?

What’s new? The leftist Democrats have been bashing and wet-dreaming about “rewriting” the US Constitution for decades (and probably longer). Are they doing us a favor right now? I suspect that they will manage to turn off (and wake up?) so many voters by 2028... that it will be a ‘walk in the park’ to beat them and elect the next GOP/MAGA president. I’ll wait to say ‘thanks’, however... because I know them only too well, and pretty much anything could happen between now and then re: their deliberate destruction of America via that leftist ‘by any means necessary’.
Easier to make your case locally than needing to call a number they ignore. I think turning over state reps easier than national - many states employ recall elections that don’t need to jump as many hurdles.
It would truly expose collusion and cost the ubiquitous ‘them’ a lot more money to create influence operations. I believe it would also put tremendous pressure on governors to focus on state issues instead of national
Not a relevant question! The Founding Fathers intended the Senate to represent the states as institutions. It returns us to the form of a constitutional republic and away from the current march to mob-ocracy! The fact one might elect fools to the legislature is completely on the individual voters of those states.
