I've never met Rupert Lowe and, judging from his latest comments this weekend, I'd say it's unlikely that's going to change. According to the leader of Restore Britain (we've got Reform and Restore; I'm looking forward to Replace and, even better, Retire) for a period in my life I wanted to destroy all that's good about Britain, create a dependency culture and, for good measure, sterilise the untermenschen.
The MP for Great Yarmouth has not been looking into my soul and excavating its darkest secrets. He has, rather, been sounding off about one of the most bizarre conspiracy theories to take hold on the Right in recent times.
On Saturday Lowe was talking about the Fabian Society. According to him, it "is a most bizarre organisation… Embedded within it is eugenicism and basically what it wants to do is destroy all good and create a dependency culture. That's what they believe in". Well, it's a view.

They picked the name Fabian because it was named after the Roman general Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus (nicknamed Cunctator, “the Delayer”).
They believed they could get their socialist society through attrition and gradualism, because the older folks would eventually die off and the young, if propagandized properly, would be more accepting of socialism.
Trotsky was an example of a Fabian socialist. He believed it wasn’t necessary to kill millions to get what you want, as long as the government kept the pressure up to move society towards it.

This is where my interpretation of Trotsky being less radical than Stalin came from.

Stalin advanced the doctrine that the Soviet Union could construct socialism on its own, prioritizing internal consolidation, industrialization, and defense over active promotion of immediate world revolution. This became the central ideological divide.
