The Left Isn’t Building a Working-Class Movement—It’s Building a New Elite

“Non-workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your Uber Eats delivery fees!”

That really seems like it should be the slogan of the far-left, socialist coalition taking over the Democratic Party.

Yet, the Democratic Socialists of America and its prominent leaders continue with the dubious message that they are for the “working class,” despite being unable to explain what that phrase even means.

Why?

In a revealing interview on Saturday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was asked by The New York Times if he had a definition for what he means by “working class.”

“I think if you have to work to pay your bills, I think that that is one definition of being a part of the working class,” Mamdani answered.

So, virtually everyone who isn’t disabled, retired, on welfare, or in prison is working class, according to this definition.

And those last two groups appear to be key parts of his coalition, too.

It doesn’t take much to deduce that this isn’t a real answer to the question.

Mamdani’s interviewer, Lulu Garcia-Navarro—to her credit—pressed the mayor further and asked if someone making $250,000 qualifies.

“I think if you have to work to pay your bills, I think that that is one definition of being a part of the working class,” Mamdani answered.

They are the actual enemy of the left. The ones required to pay for the government, the fraud and the ever expanding welfare state.

The left claiming to fight for the working class while building a new coastal elite is one of the biggest cons going.

Their policies — open borders, green mandates, cultural experiments — hurt the very people they claim to represent. Working Americans aren’t buying it anymore.

Given the graft and corruption of American commie politicians, including our creeps in Kongress (both sides of the isle), I'd say they're not "working" on anything. They've already achieved it.

Even our elected officials w/the 'R' logo spit in our faces w/their do nothing work ethic. They betray the country w/absolute impunity. They get rich via corruption yet we keep electing them.

Sounds to me like they've already reached their goal.

The president of the local steamfitters union in the NYC area said the same thing a few days ago. The blue collar rank-and-file saw this years ago, but now the union leadership is coming around too!

It smells like bs. They don’t mean any of it. They are looters and they’ll be worse than the soviets. They’ll open our borders, steal our money and give it away to themselves and foreigners.

This drivel is easy to dismiss by basic counter-arguments. But I don’t see the Republican Party making much of an effort.

The working class doesn’t include those who have to work to pay taxes.

dems imported 20m+ illegals on top of the 30m+ already here...

ALL of which take blue collar jobs.

In what universe does that help the working class?

The anti-capitalist rhetoric sounds Communist. But unlike the old school Commies,
their gripe against capitalism is that the means of production exist at all.

It's not just unworkable in the long run like the system of the old USSR. It's a cargo cult.

This has typified Communism since Lenin introduced the concept of a “revolutionary cadre”, meaning a class of enlightened non-proletarian intellectuals who will lead the unenlightened classes in revolution. Djilas labeled this the New Class, and it is there not to lead any revolution but solely to enrich and empower its members. This is, to employ Marx’s own historical model, backsliding - essentially feudal - and is certainly not the inevitable path of history Marx predicted. Ruling classes come and go, and often they have to be helped out the door.

No, it’s building a “Noo” elite!

As one who grew up in Southern Arizona, I pronounce “new” as “nyew”! So to me, what the left is building is truly a “Noo” elite!!

The “working class” is not a class. It’s Marxist vocabulary.
