July 4 marked the 250th birthday of the United States of America, the 102nd birthday of On the Waterfront and Exodus star Eva Marie Saint, and 50 years since Israeli commandos rescued 102 hostages at Entebbe airport in Idi Amin’s Uganda. Unlike Eva and the USA, that milestone failed to get the attention it deserved, and in 2026 the reasons will prove enlightening.
On June 27, 1976 in Athens, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hijacked Air France flight 139 en route from Tel Aviv to Paris. The PFLP’s Jayel al-Arja and Fayez Abdul-Rahim al Jaber joined with Wilfried Bose and Brigitte Kuhlman, German militants with Red Army Faction and Revolutionary Cells. The hijackers proclaimed themselves the “Che Guevara cell” of the PFLP, so half a century ago the axis of Islamic terrorists and leftists was already on full display. In 2026 it’s obvious to all but the willfully blind, but the corporate media prefer to look the other way.
In 1976 the hijackers separated the Jews from the other passengers, who were allowed to go free. As this confirmed, the German leftists were sulfuric anti-Semites in the style of their National Socialist predecessors. The PLPF, popular with nobody, was out to obliterate a nation and kill as many Jews as possible. That is now obvious in the “from the river to the sea” chants, but corporate media won’t recognize the truth.
The hijackers diverted the aircraft to the Entebbe airport in Uganda, where six more PLFP terrorists joined the operation. The Israelis flew nearly 2,500 miles, landed in darkness, and took down the hijackers and three of the PLFP terrorists already in Uganda. The Israeli commandos freed 102 hostages but the operation claimed the lives of three hostages and Israeli commander Yonatan Natanyahu. Yonatan was the older brother of Benjamin Netanyahu, the longest serving Israeli prime minister, and that explains the oversight 50 years later.
Of all the leaders in all the countries in all the world, Netanyahu is the primary target for the Islamo-leftist axis, united by hatred of Jews and Israel. In this view, Netanyahu must always be the oppressor and guilty of endless crimes, including genocide. Netanyahu is also friendly with American President Donald Trump, who for the Islamo-Leftist axis can do no right. The two leaders collaborated against Iran’s Islamic regime, so beloved of the President Formerly Known as Barry Soetoro. So call it Trump-Netanyahu Derangement Syndrome (TNDS) and as Victor Davis Hanson observes, there’s more to it from the land where the rescue took place.
New York’s socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani, born in Uganda, “once belonged to a settler-colonial Indian expatriate elite” in that African nation. Mamdani is “the pampered rich kid from Uganda, who immigrated to America with his now-endowed professor father and elite filmmaker mother, the latter reportedly supported by millions of dollars in grants from the Qatari royal autocracy.”
Mamdani “could not resist using the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration to trash the very country that he and his parents voluntarily sought out.” As a matter of course he would not commemorate the most daring rescue ever attempted, and he now wants to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu when he visits New York.
“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court,” Mamdani told reporters. “Whatever the law allows me to do in New York City, that’s what we will do.” While he targets the leader of a democratic country friendly to the USA, Mamdani ignores Cuba’s current dictator Miguel Diaz-Canel, China’s Communist dictatorship, and countless Third World tyrants. And if Hamas and Hezbollah ever did anything with which Mamdani disagreed, it’s hard to know what it might be.
In New York, even those who voted for him are getting weary of the socialist mayor, who speaks of seizing the means of production. Fortunately, the USA he denounces boasts a free-speech zone that includes the entire nation. New Yorkers are free to denounce Mamdani in the streets, parks and public meetings. New Yorkers are free to stage boycotts and sit-ins, and make recordings and videos that mock the Ugandan import. Maybe someday he could exercise his right of return.
Meanwhile, those with little if any memory of the Entebbe rescue can view films such as Raid on Entebbe (1976), Operation Thunderbolt (1977) and 7 Days in Entebbe, from 2018. As Mamdani plots the arrest of Yonatan Netanyahu’s brother, there’s something the Ugandan import should know.
“Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a sweeping campaign to dismantle the threat posed by the International Criminal Court to U.S. sovereignty. The campaign will feature a whole-of-government response to systematically disable the ICC’s ability to operate, target American servicemen or officials, or otherwise threaten American sovereignty.” Even in New York, they might say it’s about time.

Bin Laden clone is now the mayor of NYC.
>the President Formerly Known as Barry Soetoro.
I’m going to use that. We all should.
When he was in college, President Donald Trump was known as — Donald Trump.
Well written. Informative. Thank you. May God bless you and your family.
Excellent article. Well done.
Now compare and contrast that one with Carter's "Desert One" fiasco where no hostages were rescued and our "commandos" shot up a tourist bus and a fuel truck, crashed a helicopter into the C-130 refueling plane, then left the area in such panic that they left the dead bodies of our men and three perfectly serviceable MH-53 helicopters (complete with classified material and one "commando's" wallet) in the desert for the Iranians.
And the New Yorkers have only themselves to blame for their predicament.
Thanks for posting this well written article.
New Yorkers, how could you elect this foreign socialist islamist bozo?!
In 1976 the hijackers separated the Jews from the other passengers...
____
It was repeated on various palestiNazi operations.
Well, leftism is truly a mental disorder.
Lest anyone forget, Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu’s older brother, Yonatan “Yoni” Netanyahu, was killed during the 1976 Entebbe raid (Operation Thunderbolt, later renamed Operation Yonatan in his honor).
Carter’s forced combined services operation raid never got started, it never went to Tehran, the Son Tay raid was all army and is a better comparison.
For me, the best part was how they embarrassed Idi Amin.
Yaphet Kotto was so black he looked purple.
Thanks for the reminder.
The PFLP is not Islamist but Marxist=Leninist. It was founded by George Habash, an ethnic Christian. It still exists and has been fighting the Israelis in Gaza.
That raid perfectly encapsulated his presidency.....sheer ineptitude.
It never reached the actual raiders, Delta Force, which never got into their part of it, the helicopters were the weak link that ended the mission before it got started and caused the loss of the Airmen and Marines.
“”Thanks for the reminder.””
ALSO at that time how many of us gave second thought to making any airline reservations...never knowing where we might end up. Cuba wasn’t on our preferred list of vacation spots!
