Marine le Pen is not Trump-style anything. In fact, she’s anti-Trump.
Being a nationalist doesn’t necessarily mean always kissing the USA’s butt, it’s about standing up for your own country.
Call it what it is: The Trump Revolution surges across globe.
What? I never equated nationalism with any such thing.
Le Pen is anti-Trump, and that’s a problem since France is supposed to be an ally. She is also very not-nationalist, in fact.
When has France ever been an ally? Certainly not with DeGaulle in charge.
And I say that as an admirer of DeGaulle, because he hated Communists.
Just remember, Euro ‘conservatives’ are like moderate Democrats in the U.S.
Marine Le Pen is not going to win. Her ceiling is 45% or so.
They aren’t supposed to be an enemy. And besides, de Gaulle was an ally during WWII, in spite of Roosevelt. But I’m not talking about de Gaulle.
That's fine. There is only one issue that matters—open borders/unlimited immigration.
The world is changing. The post WWII world order is now over. We needed allies during the Cold War.
Not in 2026.

Do you know how close France came to going Communist after WWII, and I mean full-blown Stalinist.
France apparently helped bigly during the Revolution.
After that? Apparently not so much.
Here “Trump-style nationalism” is simply a reaction to the smothering internationalism that has made, and continues to make, a deliberate, well-funded campaign against the interests of the constituent nations. (These have managed, through sympathetic media, to cast nationalism as inherently destructive). That resistance can, and does, take many forms. One of the most unexpected and poignant results of hosting the World Cup is the appreciation that it is not wrong to love your country and it doesn’t have to take place at the expense of other countries. That’s actually pretty subversive when you think about it.
The best way to make the French our allies is a German invasion.
I haven’t seen that Le Pen is particularly anti Trump. She’s not pro Trump especially but she has largely kept her distance. At least as far as France goes, she’s a hard core nationalist.
Italy has changed nothing.
She won’t be winning anything. I may be wrong and if she wins I don’t really care but she always polls well and loses anyways.
I thought they were going to go with Jordan Bardella?
