Which French scandal is worst? The fact that the French authorities have decided to impose QR codes on all people, French as well as foreign tourists, who wish to attend Tuesday's Bastille Day parade on the Champs-Élysées? Or the fact that hardly any news outlet has seen fit to even mention the decision?
...
For the first time ever, you cannot just wander over to the most famous street in Paris and simply join the crowd (the same, incidentally, is increasingly true of museums; a stroller cannot be spontaneous and just walk in; he has to sign in beforehand on the internet), something that is dubious foreign tourists have heard about. Or, for that matter (what with the medias' deafening silence), French people themselves.

I think hers should be tattooed on the small of her back. A QR tramp stamp.
Just generate a QR code that says “Blow me you f’n nazis!”
Whoah, I thought this was a Babylon Bee story!
Louis XVII (born Louis Charles, Duke of Normandy; 27 March 1785 – 8 June 1795)
No biggie. (I was just by the reviewing stands at the Place de la Concorde last week.)
If the Secret Service demanded this measure to protect President Trump, no one here would have an issue.
Living in Houston I came of age taking girls to everything free downtown, the zoo was free, the museums free, nighttime concerts and plays in the downtown park (Hermann) free, and then I started going inside the skyscrapers and riding the elevators to however high I could get to, everything was completely open, unguarded, non-monitored, you could even go into those skyscrapers and ride the elevators with zero notice of anyone, while your car was parked somewhere around with all the windows down and maybe some stuff laying on the back seat.
Houston is more diverse today.
Lemmings will be lemmings.
These are the people we claim are our allies.
Well, maybe we are, because America is heading the same direction unless a stop is put to it.
But I just do not see that happening.
I would.
And if you would, still no biggie. Just don’t go.

Sorry for any mistakes in this message as I am in the airport on my way to Paris. I had just come across a site that indicates that access to the parade site on the Champs requires a ticket. In order to get past security to watch the parade on the Champs you need a QR code. My confirmation email from the Elysee Palace indicates that I will receive a QR code one to two days before the parade. Again I apologize for the lack of more info on this but please check it out.
“When you vote, you need to show ID” — Leftist reaction: “How horrible!”
“When you walk out in public, you must wear a QR code so that the government can track you” — Leftist reaction: “This just makes sense.”
This may be the reason for the high security: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2026/07/14/france-celebrates-bastille-day-macron-s-last-with-parade-centering-on-ukraine_6755456_7.html?srsltid=AfmBOopXcybVatJN-ZW8z85lS57dOJEtT4DSCYv1h7NHNb1BJ8fsRSTc#
The final July 14 parade presided over by President Emmanuel Macron, the event brought together thousands of French troops but also two dozen foreign heads of state and government, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
I remember going up into the Transco Tower and video taping Houston traffic from up there. Back in 1989. No one cared. No one asked what I was doing.
I loved downtown Houston as a boy and would spend entire days there an invisible kid as I watched all the adults and learned so much of what went on under the surface of downtown life.
Not true ... but those of us who would call it out for the abominable government over-reach that it is would be accused of having "TDS" ...
