State fails to investigate daycares with no children despite media reports

Many Washington state daycare providers receive large taxpayer subsidies, but an investigation by The Center Square found several that had few, if any, children and at least one establishment that received hundreds of thousands of dollars despite residents at the listed address indicating it was not a daycare.

Yet politicians charged with overseeing the spending continue to publicly say there is no problem with improper payments to the daycares and, instead, have been criticizing journalists for investigating the potential fraud. No state official has announced an investigation or crackdown though the legislature instituted some reforms last session.

The Center Square visited approximately three dozen daycares over the past six months that received hundreds of thousands of dollars in state and federal subsidies to provide daycare for lower-income residents, finding only a few that appeared to have children present.

According to fiscal.wa.gov, one daycare in West Seattle received more than $229,000 over nine months from July 2025 through March 2026, but the residents at the home repeatedly told The Center Square there was no daycare at the home, nor had there been.

The only reason they ignore the fraud is because they benefit in some way. It's either votes or money; nothing else makes sense.

Yep, it’s kickbacks. Not that WA would do anything about it just like many other states. The Uniparty Congress will just put another $trillion on the debt and make it go away for a year or two.

Most likely because the fraud trail goes all the way to the top of the DNC and has probably been there for 10 years.

FTA......one daycare (out of dozens officially listed in West Seattle) received more than $229,000 tax dollars over nine months, yet residents repeatedly told a reporter there was no daycare at the home, nor had there ever been........

Campaign donations should be checked.

Nationwide in both Red and Blue states Welfare Fraud is mostly ignored. Here in GA the AG (allegedly R) is asleep at the wheel.

Fraud is not prosecuted for several reasons.
#1 IG and AG are lazy and incompetent.
#2 IG, AG, FR and most of the public think FRAUD is something done by Somali, Chinese. Yes, they commit fraud. But fraud is mostly a white collar crime of IT professionals who know how to game the IT computer software.

#3 Deloitte IES Integrated Eligibilit System is the #1 fraud and the enabler for much other FRAUD. But they are not Somali. Deloitte is Ivy League white collar...and a lot of H1b.

If they investigated every report of Somali fraud they would have to actually work. And they don’t want that.

I. What sort of “home” would be providing an average of over $25,000 per month of child care? Do they have a staff of 20 carers? And $25k is just the subsidy — do the parents, if any, pay nothing?

II. Is it possible that the Day Care is provided at a different location and this “home” is just the owner’s mailing address? (Not likely, but I don’t want to be baited with partial info.)

III. Are the parents required to have JOBS to receive the free daycare?

The one who was governor of WA years ago? No doubt huge kickbacks at a state level going on there and wouldn’t be surprised if it happened in every state to some degree. Clearly some states are more corrupt then others and no doubt the grift was going on before the pyramids were built.

What is going on federally is beyond comprehension.

About two years ago, a Washington state audit revealed that $750 million in Covid 19 federal funding had vanished.

Much of it was traced to an African country - I forget which one - not Somalia.

Huge story, right?

After several more audits, it was reduced to about $250 million.

Then, the story just disappeared.

The former state agency Director - a wealthy older female and big time Democrat donor - refused to testify under oath.

A short time later, she was hired by Joe Biden, and moved to Washington D.C., with her husband.

Then, the entire issue just disappeared.

I scan the major Washington state news head lines every day.

I still have no idea what happened.

This is pretty widespread, multiple states, hundreds of billions of fraud. Somebody is getting a cut to keep this going.
