The signal and the noise

Trump is playing a very long game with Iran. He has until 2028 to get the job done, and he is prepared to take as much time as is needed to make it happen. He’s going to rope-a-dope with them until the midterms are over. He needs to get gas prices down, get the economy in general up, and starve the Democrats and their media co-conspirators of events that can be used against him. He’ll navigate Iran bad news like he navigated ICE bad news—not just get it off the front burner but get it off the stove entirely by letting as little as possible happen until after the midterms. He not only expects Iranian perfidy but also hopes for it to keep the rope-a-dope going. He also knows things we don’t know about the power struggle within Iran. You must wonder if a lot of guns are being smuggled to the Iranian people as we speak. Once past the midterms, the final solution for Iran—internally orchestrated permanent regime change—will begin in earnest. It wouldn’t be a surprise to learn that he and Netanyahu have already agreed to this, but have decided to appear divided before the world to throw the dogs off the scent. Once the Iranian government is pro-USA, the Middle East Arab states will cascade like falling dominoes into a rich economic union with Israel. They already know that it’s in their best interests and inevitable, but feel they must wait until the political environment makes it safe to move.

This is an extremely charitable view of Trump’s Iran strategy. Trump did not realize Iran was going to be able to hang in there and not “surrender.” He didn’t understand their ability to put pressure on the Straits of Hormuz. He didn’t realize that they weren’t going to negotiate a final peace deal no matter how generous it was to them. So now he’s stuck with a war that is going to continue whether he likes it or not unless he escalates in a fairly sizable way that neither he nor the country seems to have the stomach for. I say this as someone who supports Trump on most of what he has been doing. I think he is what the country needed instead of a traditional Republican who was captured by the Deep State. I like most of his domestic policy and aggressive legal strategy. I think his China policy has been brilliant. I think his pressure on Europe is correct. But on Iran, he misfired and now can’t get out of it. Articles like this are putting lipstick on a pig. I don’t like saying it as a Trump supporter but sometimes you have to face reality.

FTA-—

Trump and Netanyahu have “agreed” to appear “divided” before the world .....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is the epitome of propaganda. As if Americans believe this.

Well, maybe the “trusting” Israelis believe it...../s.

The poor souls need a rationale for keeping the US foreign aid tax dollar billions flowing.

Trump is playing a very long game with Iran.

No he's not. Trump has no long-term plan because he assumed it would be over in a matter of weeks. He's the one getting played at this point.

Too many people here think a citizen republic can conduct war to victory when the people are opposed to it - but our entire history since 1945 suggests that it’s not true.

The trump world is the world of probabilities. You have sketched one probability. The author of the article sketches another probability. There are more.

We shall see.

I’m sure the feds are now working to ensure the best outcome while wargaming the worst outcome.

We have no alternative than to believe that after the mid term elections Iran gets theirs. Otherwise it is more than obvious that DJT got played. But, again, the alternative to DJT is not even worth talking about...

I don’t think the midterms is a rationale.

We stopped attacking over two months ago. Had we continued going after infrastructure, all we’d need to do by now is monitor humanitarian aid.

No nation building required.

And that’d be victory 5 months ahead of the mid terms which I believe would go over quite well.

...No nation building required...

There is another exciting and wonderful possibility. The end of Islam as we know it. The people revolted against the Islamic life. They burnt down hundreds of mosques.

A successful revolution against Islam could easily spread to other Islamic countries. Just like the American Revolution spread into Europe and removed Kings from power.

FR has many Monday morning armchair quarterbacks who claim to know what Trump's policy is toward Iran.

But in reality, they don't.....

I don’t like saying it as a Trump supporter but sometimes you have to face reality.>>> I agree. He thinks there is a singular leadership in Iran and they are human. Big miscalculation. And if this drags out it will be difficult for republicans to recover. I see losses in Midterms and a Dem president in 2029. I would like him to solidify and codify the death of Cabinet offices and most of the deep state. I see JD Vance as an empty suit with zero congressional effectiveness. No recission packages. nothing permanent. The only delay when the dems win will be how long it will take to unravel everything Trump has done. We need to realize that all of government is basically against him and will aid the dems in the re-takeover.

I think this is a pretty accurate assessment. Right off the bat Trump has eradicated the Iranians ability to make A nuke. Now time is on his side. He’s going to let this 60 days play out. 55 ships per day transiting the straits, oil prices dropping, the markets surging.

Meanwhile every time Vance is off somewhere and Trump, Rubio and Hegseth are ensconced together like this weekend at Camp David. Something gets ready to pop. Like Venezuela.

Only this time Imma guess Cuba. They’re either getting ready to black bag Raul Castro or they have threatened it because 2-3 days ago Cuba announced something like 176 privatization approvals for business and property. I would not be surprised if Cuba is quietly being taken over while everyone is looking at that shiny thing going on in Geneva.

You have no idea what Trump's Iran strategy is. You have no access to any information regarding that. You are just some random person on the internet shooting from the hip on things you know nothing of.

Opinionated blowhard is an apt screen name for you. Glad you chose it.

Trump has been on Iran and China’s case since the early 80s, long before anyone else.

He realizes and understands everything.

Come January 2029, he will not leave a nuclear Iran in his wake.
