B'Tselem failed in this choice, under the leadership of its two heads, executive director Yuli Novak and chairwoman Orly Noy. Both are veteran left-wing activists with much to their credit, like the entire organization, and both of them failed to relate properly to the massacre.
According to the Haaretz article, Novak described it as "an act of resistance or rebellion .." and in doing so in effect legitimized it. In that, she is no different from all those who tore down the pictures of the child hostages and the "snowflakes" on the university campuses in the United States.
